    Lrt - Chb

Its it time to put LRT into CHB full time next year.

He couldnt do much worse than Goodes, and will give him time to grow into the position. With a ruckman dropping back to help him, he could be covered if out of his depth on occations.

    Our talls become:

    FB: Schauble
    CHB: LRT
    Ruckman dropping back: Ball/Doyle/Jolly
    Roaming Util: Goodes
    CHF: Hall
    FF: O'loughlan/Doyle/Jolly.

They have to give him a full run there for every pre-season game.

I say give him a chance!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I reckon he will be played there during the pre-season and given a lot of game time there in 2005. He is not a good mark, but is bloody athletic. He has a massive leap and is pretty strong, so one would think that CHB would work well for him.
All he needs to do is leanr how to mark, kick and handball and he will be a very good Australian Rules Footballer....
      - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Are those 2 duds still on their list? Clarkson has got a genuine uphill battle. But then again most scribes had the Hawks in their top 4 in 2004. (incompetent reporting)

I'm thinking that now we've got Jolly, CHB probably is the position Roosy and co have in mind for LRT - after Ball retires, we should have a ruck combination of Doyle and Jolly, with Eriksen maybe coming up in a couple of years.
Give LRT time though, he has had a pretty interupted year.
Needs to work on his skills though.

I believe it has "always" been the position they've had in mind for him.

My thought as well. Sure in 03 we used him in the ruck late in the season, but thats because we had to. If he can put a bit of bulk on and put aside the 04 season, he'll do quite well at CHB - maybe not the world beater we all have been hopeing for, but good enough to give himself a future in the position.

I dream of the defence lining up like this

B: Craig Bolton Andrew Schauble Leo Barry
HB: Jason Saddington Roberts-Thomson Matthew Nicks

Move Tadhg to the wing and allow Goodes a free role in the midfield.

Shouldn't Barry be HBF and Nicks BP?
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Really doesn't matter. Depends on who we play I guess

My thought was mainly in concept of what they can give us besides defence - Barry running off half back and Nicks kicking from deep in defence. Sure it can be reverse but I think this way works better in most cases.

At last look Lewis Roberts-Thompson was a long, long way from AFL class.
I wouldn't be pencilling him in anywhere other than Canberra

Why does everyone on this list get their full name quoted, except Lewis Roberts-Thompson? Reckon you're discsiminating against hyphenated-people.

Might give David Rhys-Jones a call to pop over and straighten you out! (Can't think of any other hyphened-thumpers off the top of my head!).

Agree. Takes too long deciding what to do - having not been brought up playing footy he needs too much "think" time. Bloody rugby has slowed his brain! He should sue the GPS that made him play rugby and thus limited his future earning potential (now THERE'S a thought! Sue the breeding grounds for the legal profession! MY EVIL SIDE LIKES THAT IDEA!).
