I couldn't care less what other teams' supporters think. The ones on Bigfooty always use this line the week after we've beaten their team.

early in the season when we were playing the running game from half back, handballing and taking risks; other supporters said it was not a brand of football that would suceed in finals.

then we started to shut other teams down, which i agree is not great to watch, then we were ruining the game. my point is, other supporters who for one reason or another don't like the swans, will always find some reason to bag them.

i would prefer us to play more exciting football as well, as long as we don't start getting smashed every week because of it. i can just imagine the groaners come out and say "we'll never win a flag playing this high risk footy. Roos and the boys are more worried about 'entertaining' people than winning the flag etc..."

My bottom line is; we need to start going into our forward 50 more, and sooner especially now that we should have more tall options up forward. sure hit a lead if you can, but don't start going backwards when nothing presents. every now and again just go to the top of the square FFS!

i think the swans have a nice base to build on.... consistent two years really first time in donkeys years

now get back to the prelim with that experience and u know anything could happen
we must not take a step back
and if that means sticking to the same game plan so be it

While Googling something else, I stumbled across an archival article before Kel's last game in 2002.

It's interesting to see how our expectations have grown. I fervently hope the Swans win a premiership in the next few years but I simply enjoy watching them play with the conviction they nearly always show at present. Compare our fretting about falling out of the top four this season with the following:

"For the five seasons encompassing 1990 to 1994, Sydney won a total of just 20 games from a possible 108, with its best return being seven victories and a draw (for a 12th-placed finish) in 1991.

They just so happened to also be the first five seasons of Kelly?s AFL career ? a baptism of fire . . . Kelly led his club through its most successful era (four finals series in succession between 1996 and 1999) since the 1930s (five in a row between 1932 and 1936)."

i guess it is good to see finals now and so on compared to the struggles of the past

i can see what people are saying tho in a way,...... who wants to come 5th or 6th and so on and never win the flag and accept it as great cos of the past failures

we need to accept success and nothing less
