    Maxfield

What did everyone think of Stewies game?

Personally I think that it was terrible. In my opinion a captain should lead from the front. Maxfield was on the bench in the third quarter when the game was there to be won (or lost as it was).

Yes I know we can't compare him to Kelly, but it is the job of the captain to be there trying his guts out when your team is down. Every other captain seems to manage it. Add the fact that he had a shocker against Carlton, where even my grandma could have got a kick.

I have always liked him, but if we are to go ok, we need a leader that can stand up and play their heart out week in, week out. Yes it's early but it doesn't look good.

I don't know whether it's the pressure of the captaincy or what.. but he doesn't seem to be as DAMAGING as before. maybe it's because he's mopping up at halfback rather than running up the wing delivering to the forwards. Still has that penetrating long kick, but seems a little quieter than normal.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

      Not enough games

Poor old Stewie, two games in and already questions are bein asked. Just remember that he has had surgery and missed quite a few games last year. He is probably still a bit underdone. The pre season games are not like the real thing.
Is Roosy going to ask him to play like Schwass used to, taking the restarts and playing across half back.
IMO he needs to be playing up the left wing and midfield where he make use of that great left boot.

I remember reading an article just after Maxfield was made captain stating that the Swans had missed a golden opportunity in not making Magic the captain. It went on to say that it may have been the wake up call Magic has needed to get his game back on track, I think it was by Patrick Smith. Anyway lets hope he was wrong and the swannies can kick Fairy's team back to Adelaide next Sunday

Christ he has one dud game when none of the stars stood out and he is already being questioned. Wait til round 8 or so to see if it was the right choice. Magic needs a wakeup call and hopefully Roos will provide that.
        - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

some people were questioning before round one. i think in all honesty we can't really judge after 2 rounds. besides, if were are going to compare maxfield to kelly then we have to say kelly NEVER had dud games in his entire captaincy career to go by the argument that has been put forward.

Keep cool guys, KB was waxing lyrical about Stewie's kicking during the Carlton game and I thought he was servicable kicking a goal early on too.

As for Saturday night, he was missing and so were a couple of others, everyone's hero Willo!! The bloke couldn't break his tag all night and coincidentally we got hammered in the 3rd.

All the reason's Stewie was chosen as skipper for have not changed and he will be cranky with the result and come out firing on Sunday. Perth is a s#%@ of a place to go and play especially at night. Any self respecting tipster will tell you that you always tip with the home side at night.

Anyways, I thought Saddo was our star on Sat night. Did anyone else agree with me there?

Was definitely one of our best, not sure if I would go to the extent of naming him THE best for us.
