Why do you use RWO? Your stories...

In the same vein as the other thread of similar subject, I just wondered how everyone here who goes for the swans (most of us i presume) ended up posting their opinions on RWO's various forums.

I first heard about this website, that had swans-related articles written by fans, in 2002 from my sister. I used to read things a bit, but then forgot about it.

Halfway through 2003 however, I wanted to find out some information about Heath James's progress, so I turned back to RWO. It proved useful, giving me the info I was looking for. I kept coming back, and then got hooked to it, as it provided an outlet to discuss all things swans-related (and the rest) with others who knew far more about the swans than I did. It keeps me up to date.

i find it's often the first place to get some informed opinion on a newly breaking issue. of course it is often a source of uninformed rants and misinformation as well.

i, like i imagine many others here, have a social group that is largely dominated by rugby enthusiasts or others disinterested in sport of any kind. this forum allows me to air my views and see how they fit into a larger perception. often they get shot down in flames and occasionally they get picked up as a point of discussion. both of these outcomes are enjoyable for the most part.

it's good for venting one's spleen after a nasty capitulation and brilliant for absorbing the enthusiasm and joy of others following a great win.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

I used to visit occasionally during 2003, but after the Port QF win I was so psyched I visited every footy-related news site reading all the reports of the game. But I got sick of most of the media saying it was all due to Port being chokers, and very little about how brilliant the Swans had been. So then I came back here and finally found a bunch of people who appreciated the win as much as I did. I spent about three days reading every post.

I visit the site all the time now. I don't post much but I enjoy reading what everyone else has to say. I don't always agree, but that's what these forums are supposed to be about - everyone's entitled to their opinion, right?

Many years ago a mate from melbourne told me to check out this great swans site called redandwhiteonline.com so I popped over, started posting, then one day at the footy recognised Des from his picture on the site - at which point I promptly walked over, said "Hi are you des?" he said he was and I introduced myself as Swansrock4eva and he went "OMG It's Gemma!" *oh the embarrassment* And something like 4 or 5 years on they still haven't gotten rid of me!

I tried looking for decent Swans fansites. I couldn't find any. So I had a go.

It's turned out alright so far.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

                Cause Des told me to!

Nah seriously I started a Yahoo Mailing list in 1998, which grew and grew so much that Des built this site to compliment the mailing list.

The mailing list is no more, but RWO lives on.

I was on Google and searched Swans sites. I clicked the link to RedAndWhiteOnline.com. I signed up no the message boards a very long time ago on a different account but goth knows what it is Cher told me to go on so I did - not finding it very fascinating at all. I guess I started posting and got addicted so fast it's officialy worse than HabboHotel.co.uk but I got over tha 170 days ago which was big for me. Nothing will ever drag me away from RWO! Ever!

I honestly don't think I know how I came aboard the way I did and how I got to know everyone...

I discovered it back in the days of rivals.net (probably early 2001), when some wag dropped the URL in an afl.com.au live chat with Jason Saddington. Been a daily visitor ever since!

It becomes worse when you get habbo Club and meet rich people and Hobbas esp getting rares!
