    Wages

I will now bombard you with a million questions: *hehehe*

Who on our list gets the minimum league wage?
Who is the highest and least paid?
I heard in AFL wages for first and second year players differ from more established players - is that true?
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Its been a bit depressing to see Burkey play in Newcastle and so i have dumped the wallabies as my number one team and have moved the swans up to number 1 (i mean after all look what the wallabies did to Burkey - it was disgusting and if i ever meet eddie jones.....)
and with schneider being my favourite - it was a no brainer

I think goodes is on 360000 and hall is not far behind along with jude. I got this info from bigfooty a few months ago so dont blame be if its wrong.

The young guns are on 30000.

Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

I thought Hall was making about 500K.

I thought he was on a 4 year deal at $400,000 pa odd.
If that is true he is overpaid on his St Kilda form and underpaid on his Swan's form.

The current Collective Bargaining Agreement provides for a minimum base payment for a senior listed player (in 2004) at $38,100; and that?s for a 3rd round or lower draftee in his first year. A second round draftee earned a minimum base of $40,220 and a first round pick got $44,300. The rates increase by about 10% in a draftees second year.

The minimum base for a 3rd year senior player was $50,000, plus $2,150 per senior game in 2004. Rookies got a base of $25,000.

Note: These figures include superannuation and the cost of medical insurance.

so how do the 1st,2nd,3rd year players make ends meet?
thats not really high considering a base Super 12 contract is $50-$75 000 and thats only for 11-13 games.....

A Super 12 contract and an AFL contract for draftees are not comparable. A Super 12 player has already established himself as an elite player; there are currently only 3 S12 franchises in Australia; to be contracted to the Brumbies, Waratahs or Reds means that a player is already in the top 100 rugby players in the country.

An AFL contract for a draftee is a different matter altogether. Draftees are really traineeships and only a very small number will actually make it as an AFL player; only about 5% of all draftees ever play more than 100 senior AFL games.

Remember that figure ($50K) for a third year player is the minimum allowable under the CBA; any draftee regularly playing senior footy by their second year would be able to negotiate a FAR higher figure than the minimum for his next contract period.

Not many 18-21 year olds are gonna snub around 50K, especially when they are getting paid that much just to play a game.

How do guys 18-21 make ends meet on $40-50K per year -- oh the tragedy of poor footballers - let's lament their tough life again...

apart from standard contract( sign-on fees ) the players also get match fees for senior football.
i think it is about $2000 a game . so if you play all 22 h & a games you can earn an extra $44000 on top of your sign on fee.
all this money is, sign on fees , match fees etc are included in the salary cap
