Bombers beat Sydney on drafting Lee

In todays Herald Sun it stated the reason Sydney took so long on there first selection was that they were going to select Andrew Lee but the Bombers beat them to the punch with selection 30.

I have mentioned Andrew Lee on here before as I played with his father, would have loved to see him in a swan's jumper.

Sydney didn't have anyone else selected ready to go because they thought other clubs would rate him as a selection in the 60's

Where do you people get these ideas from. The article states we were keen on Lee, nowhere does it say we had no back-up and made a decision on field of 100's of draftees in 4 minutes.

It is obvious the Swans liked the look of Lee at 31. But if he was not to make it through, it would of been incompetant of us not to have a list of another 10 players that we had an eye on for 1st selection.

So Essendon take Lee with the selection in front of us, Barham then turns to Roos/Ireland and whoever else and say now that Lee has gone are we all in agreement with what is left remaining on our list.

Would much prefer them to talk through the selection then just cross off a name and go to the next.
