    Next year's team

Well I think that next year could allow the Swans to have big changes on the ground. Most of these players either have just joined the Swans or had no luck with injuries last year....

Jolly, in the run on team
Spriggs, probally in the run on team
Fixter, ?? hope he is in the run on team
LRT, ?? Should make the team
Saddo, on the return from injury, will make the run on team
Schnieder, on the return from injury, should make the run on team
Sunny, on the return from injury, should make the run on team
James, handy, nearly ready for AFL standard
Fossy, as a top 5 selection should be in the run on team

    etc....

And we lost who in the off season?

    Not much really

Believe it or not we have improved

    Thats without the regulars?

All these players equate to depth and depth is what the swans need to go to the distance.

Roosy has got us within a quarter of the GF and within a couple of games the next year.

I feel that its all the way this year

And don't forget MOL, was plague by tendonitis last pre season, hopefully he will have a better one next year.

And Goodes should be able to run a lot better next year as well.

James has to be in the run on team.
Sunny i am less sure about.

considering the fact that we kept fosdike, he'd better be on the team but there are more midfielders than spots at the moment.

Nice to read of some optimism on the boards, (even if i don't fully agree with it all)
I wish my weed was EMO so it would cut itself

They can't all be in the run-on team unless we are planning on playing 28 a side, or dropping the likes of Williams, Kirk, Maxfield, Crouch etc

            - Spriggs to replace Fosdike (hopefully).
            - McVeigh to have more game time at the expense of Maxfield (too old).
            - Jolly to have replaced Ball by mid year.
            - LRT to help out down back.
            - Saddington/James to ease MOL load.

Of course one or two senior players will get a long term injury allowing LRT/Saddington/James regular spots.

I only see a minor overall improvement in the list, so some existing players are going to have to lift substantially for us to be a flag threat.

One thing to note also, is that if Doyle and Jolly take over the reins of rucking, it will a complete rebuilding of the ruck duo from only last year when Goodes and Ball did it.
              Thats a huge turnover!

Hopefully the extra height of Doyle/Jolly will evolve our midfield tactics in the OFFENSIVE direction!

Of that group I would think only Jolly is a certainy to be in the team come Round 1. The rest really need a great pre season and a bit of luck to make it. Spriggs, LRT, Schneider and Fosdike would be on the edges, with 1 or 2 to certainly make it. Saddo I heard won't be back until after Round 1 and Fixter, James and Sundqvist need to prove themselves in Canberra before getting a senior game.

Believe it or not we have improved
I wouldn't say we have improved.

Our depth in the midfield and in the ruck is solid enough to cope with injuries, but our key position stock haven't improved at all. We have only LRT, Powell, M.Davis and James as young players coming though. Hardly promising and if the defence gets hit with injuries again, we'll be using stop=gap replacements that DIDN'T work last year. God forbid Hall getting injuried.

If we can keep our best 22 on the park for most of the season, get improvement from a few young kids such as LRT, McVeigh and Schneider and get Goodes back to his best form and playing ON THE BALL, we have as good a shot as any team to win the premiership, but we need luck and without it we could finish anywhere.
                Once was, now elsewhere

                  every team needs luck
i think we have a good blend
may not have a pile of champions but most premiers dont
champion teams win flag not teams of champions

When fit, Fosdike will be in our best 22, ahead of Monty, Ablett, & Spriggs to name a few.

Fosdike is pathetic for a number 3 Draft Pick IMHO. Kevin Bartlett has given him the tag of "Fearless" when he is without doubt the softest player on our list. He wil not put his head over the ball when a bump is imminent. He will not make our top 22 on current form, he needs to improve greatly and actually gain some fitness. The sam roughly applies for Mcveigh, but he does have guts. If maca doesnt improve outstandingly this season he will be traded to Essendon very quickly, im surprised he wasnt already.

'Fearless Fosdick' is a comic strip character!
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

If Fosdike gets a run ahead of any of schnieder, monty , mcveigh or even willoughby or schmitt (if they are in any kind of form), will be a tradgedy.

Fosdike has more than had his chance and should now become a bits and pieces top up player unless his on field/match day performances are so compelling he can not be denied (I just can't see it happening, especially with limited opportunities coming his way with more competition in the midfield).
