IMO, way off the mark... he may not possess a lot of speed over 100m but over 20 he gets going pretty quickly

hawthorn game, case in point, it was his dash out of the pack that won us the game...

In any case, when you're tight in the clinches, foot speed means far less than brain speed. Simon Black is no race horse but his mind and vision are superb - that's what makes him such a great player.

It's a long stretch to suggest Monty could ever get that good, but the really encouraging thing about his 2004 was the number of times he provided a fantastic feed from close in to a team mate who was then able to break into space.

He has "useable" foot speed, as opposed to someone like Fosdike who has foot speed that is rarely used to good effect.

He also good hands and awareness.

I think he could be a useful goal sneak - look at his great game on Rohan Smith.

BTW - who gives a toss how he cuts his hair!!
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The media are regularly informing us that there is an 'approved' physical shape for AFL players, and if you don't fit that shape then you are definitely suspect . . . . .

maybe that now extends to an 'approved' hairstyle?

The Essendon game from Telstra Stadium 2004 was on Fox Footy yesterday, and I'd forgotten what a good last quarter Buchanan had. There was one particular play from a ruck contest on the forward 50 line where he gathers, weaves out of trouble, handpasses to O'Keefe in traffic who then managed a fantastic goal.

I'm very, very glad he was re-drafted last year.

Yes I remember that, it was a piece of class play from a very very useful young player. Hopefully we will see a lot more in 2005.

some of the commentators!!! At least with similar hair to Schneider they had an excuse to call him the wrong name.

Right now Amon is in that big category of a useful, good, average footballer.

LOL ! Also some of the Swan's staff
There was a funny incident this year when they had taped individual performances to show the players their game to go through it with them and when they got to Amon, half his video footage was that of Schneider !
