Swan takes Spriggs under his wing

But Spriggs had an ally in Cresswell, Geelong's midfield coach, who at the end of the season took up an assistant coaching role in Sydney.
Did I miss something? I though Cressa went to Brisbane?

One comment might seem like an error. But there are three in that article indicating that Cressa is now at Sydney.

Does someone know something we don't? Or has someone just got an (incorrect) idea into their head that they can't shake?

That article is really strange. I could accept a one off error. I think the journo really stuffed up. Two quotes show that Cressa probably assisted Roos and Spriggs in pulling the deal together.

"Cresser was awesome," Spriggs said. "He was always trying to get me into the team. He was watching me in the VFL, saw that I was playing well and he said he would do his best to get someone at Sydney to take notice when he went there."

        AND

Roos said yesterday Cresswell was Spriggs' guardian angel. "It's great to get an insider's view of how they prepare and how they play and Cresser was extremely positive about him and said he was really hard at the footy and quick, which sort of reaffirmed my beliefs."

Neither Spriggs nor Roos actually say that say that Cressa is AT the Swans, merely assisted Spriggs when he was delisted.

Here is the October article saying he is at the Lions

and here is a story on the Lions website, where he is listed as a coach

This is an almighty journalistic error. Amazingly inaccurate.

Yeah, I think it's just poor journalism, has to be.

Although the Journalist in question is fairly experienced and the Cresser move to Brisbane is high profile.

One other thing is that he does claim Cresser as a coach at Sydney TWICE.

Love to have him back though.

With the "crap" Midfield the lions have, a midfield coach is just what they need.

Confirmed with the club that it is an error.

How many other summer footy stories are just made up by Journos?

I think Spriggs must have accidently said Cressa was going to Sydney, and the journo has taken him on face value.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.
