    Good news from the airwaves

Triple M will expand its AFL broadcast in next year's home-and-away season, by adding Sydney Swans' and Brisbane Lions' matches to its existing coverage of Melbourne and Adelaide games.

The expansion of the broadcast will build on the popularity of Triple M's call, which was trialled in the two northern states for big matches this year.

Austereo Melbourne General Manager Gary Pert said listeners had demanded more footy from Triple M, which had the highest-rating commentary team in Melbourne last season.

"It's a national game and we're the national FM network. The AFL, with its passion, energy and excitement is a great fit with the Triple M brand," said Pert.

"Our existing football sponsors are delighted at the new possibilities of continuing their association with Triple M and the AFL into the Sydney and Brisbane markets.

"This is part of Triple M's long-term commitment to the AFL. The Sydney broadcasts last year went exceptionally well.

"The listeners love our commentary team - they take football very seriously, but our listeners would know they don't take themselves seriously."

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou welcomed Triple M's expansion of its AFL broadcasts.

"It's great for the national game to be on the national network," he said. "Triple M will help us bring the game to the expanding fan base in Queensland and NSW."

    Does it have talkback?

I'd love to have an AFL talkback hour after matches like they do on Ray Hadley etc.

Would be awesome to get a view Sydney voices spreading the gospel from north of the Barassi Line. Would definitely give a different perspective to all the constant whinging from supporters of the big Vic clubs about concessions etc etc

This is great news for footy fans in Sydney and Brisbane.

Hopefully there will be a talkback program after the game.

They do let callers thru after each game, post match interviews with players and coaches from both teams.

Footy talkback. You won't know yourselves. We live off it in the sporting capital.

On SEN you get it all day every day and on 3AW 2 hours of quality talkback on Monday to Thursday 6-8.00pm. As well as saturation on weekends.

When you are winning you don't know where to turn, and they even give us coverage except when Wilson is on, who by the way has replaced T.Wallace on 3AW. God she is boring in that nasally monotone.

Is it good news for Melbourne supporters?

Are we gonna get the calls as well?
I would assume so, which is awesome.

I don't care who calls the games *even Eddie* as long as I am able to see or hear them somewhere....

I hope we get it in Melb too. We missed too many games last year due to n o coverage. But I wouldn't hold your breath on that!!

I had a look at the Triple M website (it was either that or work) and it seems that you can listen to it over the Internet anyway, so if they don't broadcast the Swans games into Melbourne you could always choose the Sydney Triple M website and stream it.

CAN I LISTEN TO TRIPLE M ON THE NET? Yes you can! Simply browse to the homepage and directly beneath the Triple M logo on the top left of the page you will find a "Listen Now" link. Click the link and a media player popup window will load with your radio stream. If you have trouble, visit "Streaming Problems" in the music menu on the left hand side of the website.
From the Triple M FAQ page.

THe AFL stopped the internet broadcast on MMM from Melbourne, so I would be surprised if it was allowed from Sydney.

Ahhh, well scratch that then. What was the reason they stopped it in Melbourne? Do they have an exclusive Internet radio station for games?

Now I can make use of that radio thingy I found in the mobe.

And there's a small hole in it that looks kinda like a lens too - wonder what that does?

Who would be the Sydney based "Personalities"? Perhaps we would then compete with the incredible bias of the SA/WA calls (although being Vic based I won't hear it).

I reckon it'd be great for the club.

What ex-players would be on - Luffy? Dale Lewis is pretty good on SEN and Schwatta is pretty good on Fox.

Hmmm, who could be the George Griljusich of Sydney?
Or would they dig up Tim Flynn and Dave Warner from when 2SM called the games for a season about 10 years ago?
