    Thewlis waits on football future

    http://bendigo.yourguide.com.au/deta...95&m=11&y=2004>

"THE Sydney Swans or the Kangaroos seem the most likely clubs to give former Bendigo Pioneer Josh Thewlis a second chance at an AFL career."

I think he's got the potential to be a good player. A bit over zealous at times in attacking the ball, but that's timing and should settle with a little more exposure with the seniors.

Was lucky to be elevated this year to the senior team. But IMO was one who was done so before he was ready. If players like Malceski and Sunny hadn't have been injured we probably wouldn't have seen him so early. Didn't do a bad showing, but also didn't impress as other debutants have (Schneider and Bevan).

I'd hate to see him become another we let go to the Kangas only to come back and haunt us

The only player of note who has left us in recent years to join the Roos is Grant, and the Swans hardly had any say in that. Also, I don't think Grant has become anything like the player he looked like he might after his first couple of senior years with us. Sure, he won a NS medal, but he doesn't produce the goods nearly often enough to be considered a top flight player.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Swans rookie Thewlis but I'm not bothered one way or another. He probably has the ability to play more senior football, if he gets a chance, I can't see him becoming a world-beater.

I wasn't thinking of one we let go in the same sense as we did with Grant. I was thinking of the one we could and should have signed in Carey.

I agree Josh may not be "a world-beater" hence my comment of "the potential to be a good player". I'd love a team of "top flight" players, but some "good" ones to even the balance wouldn't be too bad.

After speaking with him I believe His heart is in doing His best for Sydney. Unless we can unearth a prodigy in the next draft, I would hope we give the kid a go to really prove himself.

He could become a solid player but nothing sensational, if there's someone with a bigger upside out there, then go for him.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.
She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
and we begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication, and she
staggered out the door into the snow.
When we found her Christmas morning,
at the scene of the attack,
she had hoof-prints on her forehead,
and incriminating Claus marks on her back.

                ..................

Old mother hubbard went to the cupboard
to fetch her poor dog a bone.
when she bent over, Rover took over
and gave her a bone of his own!

nice to see a bit of levity in the posts from time to time.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know
