Player Injury Update

If anyone has missed it the website posted another injury update.

Looks like our Wizard Cup will be giving an opportunity ala Paul Bevan to cement a place in the Starting 22.

I would think that it is an opportunity for Fosdyke to re cement his position in the mid field

It is an opportunity for Spriggs to get into the 22 and it is an opportunity for Dempster to start in the Starting 22.

What does everyone else think?

Well with the way Roosy set the team up in previous years there will be opportunities for some players to force their way into the "run on team"

These guy have to make a fist of it and give 110%

How long is the apprenticeship for others? Mark Powell? LRT? etc

The stand out young player/players of the pre-season should be given their shot no matter how long they have been with the team.
We need at least 20 % improvment in the side to win the flag. I will be bitterly dissapionted if one of the younger recruits have not forced fodike out of the starting 22 come round 1.

It is not that bad. Altho' I hate losing, it atleast reduces the chance of injury, before the main event starts in rnd 1.

I have no problem with stacking the first Wizard cup match with youngsters. If we lose, then we get to play our remaining practice matches without the "lets try to make the preseason comp more interesting" trial rules. If we win, whoopee, it gives us another competitive game to play next week. Happy either way.

Yup. Saddington is in there if fit to get used to playing full forward and to provide experience and leadership.

nice team. i do like the idea of Saddington in the forward line, and he has done alright when given an opportunity there. I don't know how many times this has been said in the various off seasons, but i think this really is his make or break year. Time to step up; i hope he does.

I was really unsure on who to put in Sunqvist's back pocket, didn't want Bevan as I think he needs to have some more time in the middle.

Need someone who can play on the Farmers and stuff, unless Dempster could play small? Or bring in M Davis to do that?

Davis and Dempster are both around the 190cm mark. Doubt they will play many games in their careers marking the likes of Farmer!

Farmer is a bit of a funny example, he almost demands a run with player, until you see wether he is 'on' or 'off'. If he's on.....look out. Luckily it only happens about twice a season. Unluckily, it was at our expense last time. Don't know many defenders or taggers that would have stopped him that day.
