Surely they will bring in extra lighting as it is bloody ordinary as it is

But when compared to the lights at other AFL ground they aren't up to the same standard.

Northern Spirit had to pay $30000 for temporary lights (per match?) to be brought in when they played their customary Friday night matches at NSO. The existing lights there are basically training lights and are hardly adequate for that.

Friday night AFL footy at NSO will be a roaring success. Just like Spirit used to, it will attract all the North Sydney office staff after Friday drinkies.

Expect a crowd of 12000 +. Good move AFL to put it on a Friday night.

          JF

PS:- Benny_W, I'd like to start planning for it pretty soon. I'll try and get on a eary shift from work so we can then bolt over afterwards with the big flags in your car.

But don't forget i think Essendon kicked in some dosh for the current lighting at the ground to be up to AFL Standard.

            JF

Will pick you up from work on that day so we can pick up the big flags.

Ive played there under lights at NSO benny and its pretty ordinary, it struggled to make it good enough for SFL standard and i know its certainly not good enough compared to AFL standard.

Its interesting to note that in cricket circles the SCG lights are considered the worst in Australia and antiquated.

I do hope the lighting is adequate!

I think its going to be great.
                I agree JF,
Fantastic move by the AFL to put it on a friday night.
Hope to see you all out there.
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Unfortunately that means no Kings in Newcastle for those of us who juggle Swan-watching with a bit of purple & gold hoops.

But fear not, the Kings play the next night. The February 3 sports-per-weekend synrome could be upon us.

I'd rather be at NSO during that weekend anyway.

Getting to Newcastle on a friday night from Sydney is a pain.

Please JF,lets not talk about the Sydney Kings anymore.

It's not trendy ok.The RWO High Society will have none of this!

You naughty boy,you made a spelling mistake!synrome is actually spelt, syndrome!

You have broken the RWO rules, you rebel

Mighty Swans on friday night and the mighty Kings on Saturday night!
Great weekend coming up in Febuary!!!!

The lights at NSO were designed the the rectangular field codes, and while they're OK in the middle of the ground they're very dark on the wings and the goals.
For AFL teams, they'd turn the lights on to full power, so it'd certainly be better than when Shearer played on it a couple of years ago. For the Sydney AFL games they played there, the lights were only turned on to a fairly low setting - and I remember going to a North Shore v Balmain game where they were even lower than that and it was virtually impossible to see a thing.

Did anybody rib Charlie about saying it was wiz cup?

Has anyone seen anything on ticketing etc. for the North Sydney Oval game?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Would be nice if Swans members got in for free to it.

It would make the Membership card greater value.

It would be nice if membership let you live in one of the player's houses. It would be exceptionally good value then.
