I reckon Bevan could do enough to one day earn number 14. I see no reason not to ever use it again. I think that Paul Kelly might also like to see it used again some day.
David Spriggs gets his number!

Does it really matter that much...Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The fact that Bevan wasn't given a lower number just about confirms that he's first in line for #14. A second year like his first, and it's his.
For better or worse, the club has decided, it seems, that #14 will only go to a player that can a) cope with and b) live up to the history of the number. We hate Anthony Rocca
We hate Shannon Grant too
We hate scumbag Gaspar
But Leo WE LOVE YOU!Comment

I reakon putting numbers away for a long time is crap too. Fair enough for one year to respect a great player. But they should just have a punt. Imagine If they threw away the no. 14 after bobby skilton, paul kelly would have worn some other number and 14 would not be legendary at all."Red and White for blood cells, Red and White for wine."

I loved watching Paul Kelly play and having him as Captain as much as the next guy but he wasn't Wayne Gretsky, y'know (because Gretsky was a great footy player). When we have a player that wins, say, three Brownlows in three Premiership years then maybe the number could be retired as a sign of appreciation/admiration.
I think that it will be back next year.Comment

In his defence, he was recovery from a knee reco and Cresswell was no superstar in the early days of his career. He is only 23 and Roos and Cresswell think highly of him.

Perhaps the number 8 is reserved for ex-Geelong midfielders?"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment
