At this stage, there are 8 senior players on this list who will have less than outstanding pre seasons, this does open the door for a couple of youngsters to really make their mark on the Wizard Cup and do a Bevan or Schneider and make the starting 22 by round 1.

Looks to me like we will again be playing a pretty young squad when we are up against the doggies.

Roosy always has his eyes on Round 1, so there is nothing wrong with that especailly if we do manage to find a player or two in the pre season.
LRT + Schneids + The Mullett = hope for the future.

Roos has confirmed that quite a few youngsters will be getting a run in the pre-season games _

"Q: What players are expected to miss the early practice games?

Roosy: Most of the senior guys will not be seen in the Wizard Cup. Williams, Maxfield, Ball, they only have so many miles left in their legs - they will tell you otherwise - so we really have to manage them. Hally had an operation, Leo Barry, Ben Mathews, Crouchy, Michael O?Loughlin and Adam Goodes will be out too. The Wizard Cup is a good opportunity for us to play some of the younger guys."

We've been warned, but a shellacking hurts all the same.

I don't think the Tasmanians amongst us are going to see the Swans this year without crossing the water

Looks to be a late start for a few of our guys!

Although this is not an issue for Wizard games (as most would be rested), it is a concern for their preparation for the season proper.

I read Roosy's comments with a sinking heart. It looks like I'll have to cross that stretch of water to see my boys as they won't be coming to York Park. Mind you our whole street went bananas last weekend with the $9 Jetstar flights and we're all off to different destinations on the mainland next weekend so Bass Strait isn't that much of a hassle. The other bonus is that my youngest daughter barracks for the Bulldogs(she wanted to barrack for a team that had a pugdog as its mascot and bulldogs were the closest) so we'll probably still go.
