    vs Essendon

will someone kindly explain to me what this game vs Essendon on 11th Feb at North Sydney Oval is all about? is it a trial or is it in aim of something else?
cant find information about it anywhere except on the official site and even then it only advertises that they are playing a game!
want to know whether it will be worth going out to see - will my schneider be playing do you think????

    thanks all
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

It's just for @@@@s and giggles (there's a tree that hangs over one pocket I believe). I would play Schneider for sure if I was coaching. But then, I would have traded Goodes and Magic so that's no real indication.

      i like your thinking sanecow!
i would have traded magic too cause hes too injury prone and we can do better! and after last years performance goodes has a lot of ground to make up if he wants to be as good as he was in 2003! lets just hope hes knees are better and that he stays injury free cause then i reckon he will play better

if you're going to see a game with all of our stars playing you may be disappointed.

They usually play the young guys for the majority of the game and all of those seniors fit enough have a bit of a run. It's an idication as to where the young guys are at and just a bit of a hit out for the others prior to the Wiz cup.

The tree does hang over the fence onto the field so if it hits it and bounces back into play, it's play on (unless of course a goal or behind is kicked)

Annual Intra club hit out that has developed a bit of a cult following. Used to have a friendly vibe, till they started invitting a million security gaurds and taking themselves really seriously over their @ nth Sydney.
which is funny cos the back paddock on my family farm was a better place to kick a footy on than nth syd.

The local house rules come into play - if you are lining up for goal and you hit the tree, it counts as a behind.

There would be less of a slope on the wings, no doubt.

The security were the same ones we got at Spirit games. I nearly got thrown out by the famous FemoNazi for maliciously looking at her. Others got thrown out for throwing bread crusts and smuggling cans of Boddingtons into the ground!

They were never the same after the Croats and Mac Terrace lads had their little tete a tete in I think 2003.

It is basically just a 15 a-side friendly. It was brought about because the Orange phone company is based in North Sydney. And Lewis Roberts-Thompson's dad was the president of that company.

It has tended to fade in significance over the years. Crowds and generally interested tended to wain rather badly. Moving it to a more fan/player friendly time slot of 730pm on the Friday is a great move. As it will attract the office times coming up for a look after Friday evening drinkies. Percys across the roads should be chockers both before and after the match.

Our lot will be up in the Bob Stand (the traditional off-season home for many of us in any case). We'll have the big flags over the fence railings.

All in all, a good old night out. And a good start to the footy season. Good to dust off the polo, cap and scarves after a footyless summer.

If you see me, come up and say Hi.

Who would you have traded him for?

i.e :1.who would take him knowing his injury history?

2.If you're talking about trading him before he got injured, who would you have traded him for?

I was at the game in 2000 and have been every year since. The only time I felt the presence of security was 2002 when Plugger made his return and Hall was also our other power force (yes we dreamed of a year of grandeur until watching that game .... then still hoped a little.... for a while). But since that match, the security has never been an issue. At least not where we were sitting on the hill.

Perhaps footyhead you were not playing by the rules of it having "a friendly vibe" ? Just my take on the games at NSO.

February 11 would be a Friday, and seeing my TAFE schedule it should be a free day so I may consider coming.
