some interesting things here. including spriggs being damned by roos' faint praise.

Schneider-
A lean, mean,Red and White,FIGHTING MACHINE!!!Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.
Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player! -
I hate to say it..but....I told ya so, I told ya so!!!
So proud of him!And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

I'm not sure that Schneider getting back to his 2003 playing weight is a cause for huge celebration, particularly if his body composition hasn't changed.
Suggests he still has a way to go before he realises how hard he needs to work physically if he is to make the most of his undoubted football ability.Comment

oh god why is everyone so damned negative on this board.
congratulate the boy - losing 6kg is a big deal and by the sounds of things - the words 'fitter' and 'stronger' suggest - that he has changed his body composition and his attitude towards training is also changing so it will come.......

Is "attitude" your favourite word or something?
Wasn't it the person who you were so willing to bag the other day, Davis, that went through something very similar to Schneider?
Both talented, been overweight, lazy, but trying to sort it out.
I'm failing to spot the difference.Comment

It suggets little but the usual pre-season fluff...Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Roos (not to mention Mission as well) has been blown away by how athletic Spriggs has been on the track. Would suggest he is now throwing down the guantlet to him to translate that into consistent football on the field.
One thing is for sure if he can get pill and use it well next year, then with his pace and fitness he could become an elite midfielder.

I loved Schneider's 2003 season and I want to see more of the same this year. But I think he has the potential to be far far more than a 30 goal a year burst player who is stuck in a forward pocket. His explosive pace and skills make me think he could become a Paul Williams type player but he needs to do far more fitness-wise than get back to where he was 2 years ago if he is going to get even close to that standard.
He's still very young and has plenty of time on his side. I just hope he has set his long-term sights high enough.Comment

So I have used this word to describe Hewitt and now in this post...does that suggest it's my favourite word or something?
Difference: Dont see Davis trying or even hear of it! Plus he is older too and should know by now what is required of him. You can understand younger players taking longer to mature mentally and physically. And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

You must have nodded off during Round 1 last year when he'd had his first good preseason for about four years, and started the season uninjured. Maybe you're talking about the remainder of the year when he was more often than not, on one leg.
Sometimes "attitude" can't help a cripple, it's a little more physical than that.
However if you know a phycologist who can make a persons headspace overcome and cure several small broken bones in their foot, i'm sure the club would love to hear from you.Last edited by Ruda Wakening; 29 January 2005, 11:40 AM.Sit down or i swear to God i'll have you shot.Comment

It would appear that I was not paying attention....maybe because he did nothing to grab my attention.
Wait...searching memory banks...ah - thats right - he had foot injuries didnt he. Fair enough - hard to run with one foot. Seems that even though he had a great preseason that people still question his commitment - undoubtly a freaky player who has unbelievable skills - i dont know, maybe he could prove me wrong this season! *hope he does*And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

True. But I do remember the game versus Essendon in round 8. He played well in that game - was coming back into form and then got injured again in that match with 4 minutes to go....And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!
