I love the geniess that thinks players who get injured are slack and lazy. LittleSchneider sounds like vicburke that was about last year. Where is youse Burkey, I foung youse a mate.

A lot of people seem to overrate Schneider. Building muscle, getting fitter etc. in pre season is only of value if that thing called a heart muscle is improved. He's got a lot of work to do in that area before he can be rated. Looks good when he has got it, but boy does he have to work on his disposal.

Kicked some good goals in 2003 but missed some sitters also.

In 2004, injuries aside, a lot of his disposals were absolute howlers.

A lot of work to be done by a bloke who seems to have plenty of tickets on himself.

Totally agree in regard to the heart muscle, but I don't think he has tickets on himself.

And some of them were sheer genius - though certainly not as many as in 2003.

I think his basic skills are very good, especially his long kicking. What was often questionable in 2004 was his decision making. A lot of the time he was trying to be too clever by half and landed up making a hash of things. The cute touches probably work when a player like him is match fit and in touch, but when he was struggling with fitness and didn't have the time he needed, he had to just try to do the basic thing with the ball.

His decision making should improve with better fitness and also with maturity.

However, if you want players with that degree of genius who can create something out of nothing, you have to accept a higher degree of risk. That means that for every time they do something brilliant there will be times when they do things daft. The judge of how good a player like this is is how low they can get the ratio of bloopers to brilliance.

It's an quandry Goodes has struggled with throughout his career - the ability to do the brilliant mixed with the inability to (sometimes) do the simple. 2003 he got it right and was a large reason why the Swans got close(ish) to the GF.

No, I'm not suggesting that Schneider yet deserves to be talked about in the same breath as Goodes. But what he did show us in 2003 was the potential to be a player who can bring a bit of that 'X-factor' to the team, a quality most of us seem to agree is not in great abundance in the current line-up.

His set shots are actually quite ordinary.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The easy ones, probably so. But then so are Tarrant's and Tredrea's.

I totally agree with you Liz - couldnt have said it better myself!
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Points taken Liz but your comments about being too cute etc. aer a part of his makeup that he must change. That's all part of my point about his disposal leaving a lot to be desired.

In 2003 from memory, most of his work was well into the forward half where he was working off packs and creating his own opportunities on goal. When he moved upfield in 2004 he was introduced to the need to kick to players on the lead etc. and his kicking that was the strength in his 2003 game, suddenly came unstuck. Trying to be too cute as you said instead of kicking through the footy with positive direction. The result flat, mongel punts and inability to develop positive disposal under pressure.

Hopefully he will learn from 2004 and take another step up in the skills department.

It's the fact that he has decent go which makes him one of our most promising young players. Same with Bevan.
Schneids was jaut getting cracking when he pulled him hammy.
He'll be ok. Better, he'll be good.
