    David Miller's new article - 9/4/03

Feedback etc goes here as usual..

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

We match up pretty well to the 96 side. Although the 96 side had more champions, it fell away badly after the top 10.

I think the current side would loose against them though. Lockett was in 10 goal per game form in the mid nineties, and our backline is just the sort he would demolish.

What a great article by David Miller. Good and interesting read and really enjoyed all the comparisons. Lot of effort and trouble David has gone to. I don't wish to dissect the article or the team but just express my appreciation of giving us a very good read and perhaps give us some hope and inspiration in the current team.

      Thank you David
      Love those Swans

top article, i was wondering about the matchups of 96 vs now, and u have done it! the 96 spine is quite a lot stronger as compared to now... ie dunkley could outbody schauble as with roos to saddington as with stafford to ball as with mooney to stevens (normally at chf, goodes would be an even match imo) and plugger to hall... but as david has said the current team could run that team ragged

A frightening thing about comparing this year to 96 is that (IIRC) we started the season with a thrashing by the Crows. I hope that isn't an omen!

if we get a thrashing this round and end up in the granny, ill take the thrashing... to keep the omen alive

A more prominent omen perhaps is that Freo beat us by 29 points in Round 2 1996.

Relative to our current team or other teams? I don't think it fell away too badly against other teams.

Compared to the team today, that falls away badly after the top 3?

                  It goes:
                  Goodes
                  Williams
                  Hall
                  .
                  .
                  .
                  The rest.
                  We hate Anthony Rocca
                  We hate Shannon Grant too
                  We hate scumbag Gaspar

for a split second there i thought we lost by 29 points last weekend as well...

i would be over the moon with a sydney vs north granny, most 'experts' have picked both of us for the bottom two, ie preseason...

i rate the roos against the lions this weekend

although, the lions are SO deep...

they can move leppa to chf, brennan/white to chb and bradshaw to FF

                      EDIT: white/morrison to chf

Rating a team against the lions on their home turf ?
You are brave to say that on here.
Might get messy for the roos imo, even with a few players out for brissy.
