Players to have increased in size since 2004

Hi everyone, I know there is a thread on photos and bios' on the AFL website, but it would appear that a couple of our younger players have added some bulk since last season.

Lewis Roberts Thomson has gone up to 196 cm and 93kg from 89kg last season (nice KPP size, he is at CHB in my dream team when Goodsey returns to his on roving role in the team.)

Mark Powell is up to 190cm 88kg up a few kgs.

Darren Jolly was listed intially at 200cm and 100kgs when we picked him up, now he is listed at 105kgs (big boy, wouldnt want to run into him in a dark alley-way!!!)

Josh Willoughby is listed as 176cm and 76kg (up by 6kg from last season). He appears to be AFL ready and it will be interesting to see if he forces his way into our starting 22.

To me this adds up to a further improvement in the AFL readiness of a few of our up and coming players who will really be pushing for a place in our 22.

I really would love to see LRT at CHB, I liked his game last year against the Kangaroos at Manuka beating Petrie.

Call me crazy, but Mark Powell has always been and will continue to be a favorite as well, I love his approach to the ball and I still think he can play at AFL level and do well for us.

As always, good chatting, looking forward to the real thing in a few months.
LRT + Schneids + The Mullett = hope for the future.

This could be a big year for Powell (and also probably his last chance). He seems to have the spring and ability, and with of extra bulk it might be just the extra he needs. Good to see LRT has also bulked up.

McVeigh is the main one I am hoping to have bulked up a little.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

        McVeigh 2003 - H: 184cm. W: 70kg
        McVeigh 2004 - H: 184cm. W: 75kg
        McVeigh 2005 - H: 184cm. W: 80kg

So basically his body size on paper puts him in the Simon Black size range (Same weight, just 2cm shorter)

Sundqvist is the interesting one - has talent - but nothing of him - way too small for AFL - has he finally added some weight?
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

            Sundqvist 2004: H: 189cm. W: 81kg

No change which might be because he has been out with a knee injury, though I would of thought he would of bulk up via rehab. Kid has talent, but it looks as if he'll never be able to prove it. Hope he does though.

In all honesty, not having seen a lot of him in training prior to last week, I can't make comparisons, but Sunny looks to have changed a little of where his weight is located - he appeared to have put on some bulk in the shoulders/arms, and lost a little in the legs. He is also running VERY well from all appearances (in that he was outlapping the likes of Saddington, Schmitt and M. Davis easily), as well as sprinting fairly well in comparison to the rest of the team.

And LRT definitely shows he's bulked up, and doesn't look any less for it (i.e. slower or less agile, the way Maxfield ended up a couple of years ago).

For the record though, Barry admitted on Thursday night that he's the trimmest he's been since arriving in Sydney, but it has been to his detriment in that his strength has dropped, so he is going to be working on that in the lead up to the season proper.

Jolly looks like a tank now

Guy Campbell has some very good size on him too.

it's refreshing to have ox like types on our list again...hopefully they can play football as well!!

Glad to hear McVeigh is bulking up!
I think with a bit more muscle and bulk he will be a fantastic asset for the swans - after all he has speed, vision and good ball skills.
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

True, now all he needs is more game time.

I say give him plenty of time in the middle this pre season and see how he goes.
