Both Jarred Moore (who has very nice balance) and Clarke did impress me today. And to think we still have Willoughby and Schmidt in the mix as well.....

Vogels is listed as one of the best in the Herald Sun. Anyone got an opinion on his effort.Comment

first impressions on vogels is that he is a very hard working lead who took a few nice one grab marks. Was a bit rushed sometimes but i guess thats due to the fact that he was really trying to impress for the wizzer cup which im sure he'll play.Originally posted by Nico

Maybe going to be groomed as our next CHF?
And Liz i agree with you on a point in another thread, Grundy is alot shorter than i thought, but he has a very nice size on him.

Hey Eirrin
Earl Shaw didn't play last night. i will catch up with him at the Swans Fan day at Richmond tomorrow. LRT looked ok last night but on a couple of occasions he couldn't make a decision on what to do with the football and he did kick it to the opposition.Comment

There was definitely a #45 running out there in the ruck for us, and since that's Shaw's number I would say he played.
Vogels is a big lad who I think could slot in at a key position if a few injuries occured during the season. Lined up at FF or abouts for most of the time he was on.Comment

His decision making is still as slow as Parramatta Rd in Haberfield @ 8.15am. Or a wet week. Or a turtle. You get the idea ...Originally posted by Mike_B
With regards to LRT, from those who were at the game tonight, do his disposal skills seem to have improved, because IMHO his kicking in particular is (was?) a real weakness in his game and could be a liability down back if he cant hit targets up the ground.
IMHO this will always be his weakness, and will never improve. Hestarted paying footy only a couple of yrs ago. His opponents (and team mates) have a 10yr start on him ... Even PK was about 13 when he started footy. 16-17 is too old.COMPARE YOUR BROADBAND PLAN AND SAVE - - $15 Connection CashBack OR Free Delivery

Except that when he plays on instinctively he, more often than not, makes a good choice. It's only when he stops and thinks that he takes for ever.Originally posted by peterh_oz

Surely there must be training drills that will help him make decisions from stationary situations more quickly and more confidently?Comment

He was great, he put in a lot of effort and looked comfortable at this level. I'm not sure who his direct opponents were (all these Victorians look the same to me), but for an 18(?) year old he was outstanding.Originally posted by Nico

I thought he was clearly the best of the unestablished players... but then he did spend a fair bit of game time near us. He's a decent size too. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment

Jeez, FH, this is the last comment I would have expected from you. It @@@@s me when someone says 'I'd like to see you do better' when comparing a mere mortal to an elite athlete. You surely know PeterH by sight. His chances of securing CHB with an AFL team are probably past him at this stage, but his opportunity to give and insight into a player isn't, particulalry as he has seen this kid's development well before he was picked up by Sydney.Originally posted by footyhead
