    Official club logos

Was surfing on the FC Bayern page this morning whilst listening to a webcast of the 3-1 win over Arsenal from Muenchen this morning and came across a link which had all the logos the club has ever had since it was formed in 1908

I was wanting to start a thread about all the logos the club has had as South Melbourne and the Sydney Swans since it was started.

I have the two most recent logos saved as URLs below.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...go-swans96.gif

Personally I far prefer the 1996 logo as opposed to the present day one. It has a snarling Swans (with teeth! ) with wings neatly fitting into the silhouette of the the Opera House on the logo.As far as I'm concerned the Swans on the present day logo looks like one of those cane handles you use to pull bad performers of a stage.

Plus I hate having a mainly white logo. It looks just terrible seeing the SCG filled with people waving amoemic white flags as opposed to firey red ones. We have the opportunity as members to create an ambiance similar to that at the Soccer World cup 2002 where everyone wore red shirts to support the Korean national team. Personally I would love a club logo with a tad more red in in. What are you thoughts? Which club logo do you like the best?

Does anyone have any pictures of all the old logos/emblems the club has used over the years?

i do like the one your using as your pic. Liked it a lot better when all clubs had that same shape as a logo. Not sure why, just showed they all the same league i guess.

I have some old round south melbourne logos in a few books, but none online
Theres not much left to say

I like the current Swans logo because the "V" shape of the logo is just the right shape to cover the Victorian logo on a Victorian number plate. I've seen a number of Victorian Swans fans driving around in cars where they have done just that.

It also helps to spell out "Victory" by supplying the first letter.

        Go to www.ipaustralia.gov.au,
click on ATMOSS and enter as GUEST.
Under Search on the left hand side of screen scroll down to advanced search,
Once you get there you can conduct a search of all trademarks of the Australian football League. You do that by entering their name in the space beside name. You will need to restrict the search to particular periods as I can assure you there are too many to retrieve in one hit.
Alternatively you can do a part word search for Sydney and Swan or Sydney and football or a part image search for bird, swan.
All logos going back to the vfl days should come up.

              I like both club logos,

From a Marketing view, the current logo is better and i can understand why the club chose to have that one.

I don't have a problem with either one.
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

Anyone have any other GIFs or JPEGs of older club shields/logos that the Swans have used over the years?

                      Here's one of my favourites.
It's not that old, the card I have is dated 1996.

I like that one. Very retro-looking.

I think that is the one on those moroon tracksuit tops they sell these days.

I find an effective way of quoting a post containing an image is do do this:

I know of some forums that ban posters for quoting images - and people think the mods are harsh here!!!
