    VERY interesting article in SMH

Who's this reporter David Sygall? Never heard of him. He's done well here. Interesting to see how much more you get when the coach is quoted in FULL. For all those who keep saying that Roosey doesn't say anything in his press conferences, think again.

What about this? "Roos was happy with the work of the ruckmen, Stephen Doyle and Darren Jolly..." not quite sure how that would be seeing as we were belted in the centre.

"Roos singled out Heath Grundy, Lewis Roberts-Thomson, Jarred Moore and Nick Potter as good performers." I'm very pleased that Potter got a mention. I was very impressed with his work in the Wiz as well as showing a bit last pre-season. He just looks a "player." He gets in there and really ends up where the ball is. He's a good size too, I feel (Collingwood six footer). More like Kirk than Williams.

LRT and Vogels in all the best's again.

But what about this? "...but the ones you're more critical on are the blokes who are in their third, fourth, fifth, sixth seasons. They're the ones you have a lot closer look at. If they're the ones making the mistakes then certainly you've got to clamp down on that, otherwise they're not going anywhere and eventually you have to weed them out and move them on."

Second or third season? There was only Willoughby, Schmidt, Dempster, Bevan and Potter. All excused you would have thought.

Unless Ablett played. He was the only player Chris Scott could remember as having a good game for the Swans (on Radio)...but maybe he meant Buchanan who definitely was in the middle.

Fourth seasons? C. Bolton, Kennelly? Surely not.
"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005

Think it is Roosy way of saying that the senior players are not performing in the trials, how he would expect them.
Hopefully this is just because they are "trials", and will be more focused come rnd 1

It is fairly clear that our lead up to the season is the same as the last 2 seasons. Seems that Roo's cliches are pretty much the same.

I recall members on this site bemoaning our lacklustre form, skills etc. 2 years ago we got belted by Carlton in Coffs Harbour and my brother in law who went said get out the laquer for the wooden spoon.

Last year we were very ordinary pre season but went within an ace of beating Brisbane in R1. Thanks Jason.

It all starts R1, what happens before then, barring injuries doesn't count.

Actually I thought Fosdike did reasonable, he certainly shaded Spriggs.
          As to the others . . .
          Powell was poor
LRT, a mixture of good and bad
          Vogels, another game another goal
          Schmidt mediocre
          Willoughby quite good.
Mr Ed, blew one goal but otherwise good.
          Nick Potter tried hard
          Monty good again
Jarred Moore, he is performing brilliantly for a first year player. His body shape, cleverness etc remind me of Shannon Grant when he arrived. A definite prospect.

Watching him on telly last week, for some reason his physical appearance reminded me of Tony Shaw. I have only ever seen Shaw on Fox Footy archives but Moore looks very strong and nuggety for his size.

Hopefully a Moore and Willoughby debut this year.

Moore has way more pace than Tony Shaw, but I too am very hopefull of debut's for these two, but also long careers.

I think that should read "long and extremely succesful careers with the Swans"!!!

My thoughts exactly!!! Spriggs should give him all the competitive motivation he requires to get off his duff. The time, money, and faith that the club has invested in him should have borne much more fruit by now. I see him in the same way that I saw Stafford-Perfect one week, useless for the next three.
