Time for a move to Telstra?

Just on the Telstra Stadium issue, apparently they are offering discounted ground hirering rates.
A report in the Sun Herald today suggesting that NRL side South Sydney could make a move out to Telstra and look at a profit around $1 million for the season, now given the crowds Souths get (circa 5,000), prehaps time to look more closely as making a full time move to Telstra, if they are offering such cheap rental.
Off the top of my head for this season, you have about 10-15 NRL games, plus the Union tests and the Swans Blockbusters at Telstra (plus finals)

I'm pretty sure you will find that the SCG Trust are actualy PAYING the Swans to stay. This is something I have heard through the grapevine. They didn't build the new club offices there for nothing!

Without their major tenant, the SCG would be more of a white elephant that it is...

PS:- The Swans will have to do a great deal more than the TOKEN efforts they have made so far at wooing the people of the Greater West to the club and the game. GregB was telling me that Eagles players have been at Baulko all the time. Swans players have been at club functions only once. And that player was Gerrard Bennett, big deal!

The Eagles are the sister club of the (formerly) Baulkham Hills footy Club, now known as the East Coast Eagles - that is why they've been over this way so much, but by the same token, they do very little to promote the game this way outside of the footy club confines. As a Hills resident, you still don't read an awful lot in our local papers etc about our Aussie Rules clubs (of which we have 2 - Pennant Hills and East Coast) until finals time really - it's usually just a small snippet that they won/lost and who stood out.

As a Souths supporter, a little more detail on the proposed offer to the Rabbitohs.

Guaranteed $70,000 per match, no matter the crowd and then a percentage of the gate if the crowd is over a certain level.

Details are still pretty sketchy and the Club has returned to the SCG Trust to get a better deal from them.

Ideally, we'd like to stay at the SFS, but if the Trust refuse to offer a better deal then it sounds like the Board and CEO are more then happy to take our games to Stadium Australia.

Should know more within the next week or two.

I think the SCG Trust would do anything they can to keep the Swans at the SCG.

However Telstra Stadium does seem to be offering good deals to potential tenants from all codes, right at the moment.

hmmm.....could get quite interesting if the Swans ever wanted to play more games out there.
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

Do you think they'd make the ground a bit longer?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

As far fetched as that question may be, it is a distinct possibility to occur if (or when) they rebuild the scoreboard end.

Would be a very simple adjustment to the current playing area while construction took place. The MCG in it's current re-development has adjusted and increased the playing surface significantly to fit the running track. While some of it will be replaced with seats after the CWG in 2006, the total surface will still be bigger than it was before the re-development.

As long as they keep me a significant distance away from one J Farmer of the Fremantle Football Club, I'll cope with that.

Might even get myself a kick our two out of the backline.
