    Roos moves on from disappointment

    Some interesting observations.

"I'm sure some of them would have gone home last night and hopefully written a few things down and just had a real good think about their own games."

Reading between the lines it is either a rocket up some peoples ass%^&es or worse, some of the young, not so young and 2-4 season players are not up to it!!!!!!

Was just about to post that link myself!

Important thing for me was that Roos plans to pick all available senior players for this week's game which should be everyone except O'Loughlin, Crouch, Ablett and Schauble.

I think this game should then answer a few more of the questions about kids v momentum.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

If experienced players can't take the heat, start naming them and put the focus onto them to step up, ala Whitnall

I would rather that a coach's displeasure with specific players be kept 'in house'. What is to be gained by the coach publicly naming players he considers to be under-performing, other than to give us something to gossip about and make the player or players concerned miserable? I am sure that the players Roos and his staff were unhappy with are well aware of the situation. I am equally sure that the coaching staff see it as their responsibility to help that player get up to the desired level. I fail to see how public disclosure will aid that process.

That approach didn't do Collingwood much good.

So i guess this will be another year filled with the same tired excuses and cliches from the coach, mixed with a few feel good articles about some players with a dash of "this year will win it" stories from some of the vets in the side. (already have two from willo and stuey)

Following the swans is like groundhog day. Its just the same **** served up every year.

I have lost faith in winning a flag and now just support the team. I thought they might be a tad competative against the lions on the weekend but crap is too much of nice word.

We just have a medicocre list with a handful of talented players who would just make the bench in other sides.

Now lets wait for an article on how the weekend was a wake up call to most players.

            Purrrlease.

Speaking of whom, a number of people here said he was a hack and not worth chasing. Look how well he has performed thus far - he could have a big year.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Dont read to much into pre-season form, remeber one Scott Stevens every year he would shine in the pre-season and as soon as the real stuff began he would go missing.

Then again his history says he wont.

                        Deigo,

Hang in there mate!! A few weeks ago we beat Essendon, the rookies were looking like guns, Jolly and Spriggs were looking like the missing links and we were all positive.

Lets not get down beat over the results pre season. It would be hard motivation to play in front of a couple of people in a stadium for 90,000. I'm sure the seniors particularly hold them selves back pre season to hopefully avoid injury and / or suspension...look at Byron Pickett, gets 6 weeks for a stupid charge, 10 seconds from the end of time in a pre season game, what a goose!!

I still feel extremely positive about 2005 and reserve all judgement on our team until round 1 and lets see how they play against the Hawks.

                        Stay positive all!

Agreed Matt, The preseason nevers reveals the true nature of the real season. I mean the bombers got flogged by the Tigers (and us), do we really think the bombers are not going to be competitive this year. I think not(, but we could always hope )
