    Crouchys Return...

With Jared keen as anything to play and Roosy saying he wont play him when he is unfit...when do you think Crouch will return? We'll start taking bets on it...
    I say 1 week before Round 1 in a 2nds game...
    - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

I hope you're right - I hope that he gets to breaks the 'consecutive games from debut' record simply because he is so close to it. Has anyone heard if he is on to full training yet? Just to be different I'll say he will be back the weekend after next for the practice match about 12th March.

    Cheers

I reakon he'll just scrape in for round one, even if his arm is hanging by a thread.

I reckon the last week before Rnd one, he'll be tearing around the training paddock crash tackling everything in sight to prove his fitness regarless of the pain in his shoulder. He is one determined b@st@rd, from articles I've read on him.

So if he doesn't make Rnd one it won't be from lack of trying.

I think he will be back either the week before rnd 1 or rnd 1 itself. I have said before i would put all my money on him playing even if he is 75% fit!!

Roos won't play Crouch if he's only 75% fit. He's an important part of the team but not that important, and you can't go into a game with one of your midfielders not fit enough, especially one who's primary roles are to mind the opposition's speedsters and to break the lines himself through the centre.

Hall and O'Loughlin are probably the only two Swans who could be justified playing at only around 75% fit, and even that would be pushing things a bit.

Micky's been 75% for about 2 years now, with surgery to take him out for 12 months

As for Crouchy, he will be fit

Depends on what one means by "75% fit" I guess. In reality, it doesn't mean anything other than giving some indication of how far off peak fitness a player is.

But does it refer to a player's areobic capacity compared to where they should be, their ability to play at a certain level compared to their optimal level (ie taking into account injury limitations) or does it mean something else?

I would suggest that Goodes' aerobic fitness remained at a high level for most of last season, though his ability to train midweek may have been curtailed. His problem was that his knees weren't as in good nick as he'd have liked. He also never had a break from the game that might have caused him to get rusty / lose "match hardness".

With Crouch one has to assume that there will be no lingering issues with his shoulder by the time he returns to playing but it will be a case of how long it takes him to get to an appropriate level of aerobic fitness and whether he has a chance to play at least one practice game (or reserves game) before he takes the field wearing a senior jumper.

Goodes is exceptionally good though. But he did have 1 or 2 ups and downs while playing.

Goodes could hardly walk let alone run in matches he played at least crouch can run which is more than 50% of his game so comparing the two players is just stupid. Goodes is in a whole different league to crouch obviously im not denying that but that doesnt mean he should be allowed to play unfit!

Lets all just wait and see hay!

In addition to Goodes and Davis, Andrew Schauble (foot), Luke Ablett (knee), Michael O'Loughlin (knee) and Jared Crouch (shoulder) won't be risked but are on course for round one against Hawthorn on March 27 at the SCG.
