Sydney, however, will not play 2003 Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes and long-kicking small forward Nick Davis until the following week.
Others returning to the Swans squad on Friday night are Brett Kirk, Jude Bolton, Ryan O'Keefe, Ben Mathews, Matthew Nicks, Ben Fixter, Adam Schneider and Jarrad McVeigh. In addition to Goodes and Davis, Andrew Schauble (foot), Luke Ablett (knee), Michael O'Loughlin (knee) and Jared Crouch (shoulder) won't be risked but are on course for round one against Hawthorn on March 27 at the SCG.

Good to see Ben Fixter's name on that list, who knows maybe with fixter Ed clarke and Moore, we may have 3 "new recruits" to add to the midfield by mid season.
I'd love it if some of these forced out Jude Bolton and especially Fosdike. I would also like it if Spriggs never ever got a senior game with the Swans - not skillful enough.

Gee, so you like it when we blow money? An interesting attitude. I'd love it if Spriggs played good footy for the club and turned out to be a great asset. In fact, I'd LOVE it if Spriggs became a champion of the club, a key defender, penetrating kicker from the backline, midfield general and kicked 100 goals a season for the next five years. It ain't going to happen but I am happy to wait and give the guy a chance.

Are you going to bag him at every game? Hurl abuse at him from the moment he makes a mistake?

It will be where they usually play Newcastle No 1 (or was that No 2) Sportground. It's on the main road as you head into Newcastle from the F3 exit at Wallsend. Just down the road from the Newcastle Entertainment Centre from memory.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

I wonder if it was by Roosy's evil design that Nicky D is not back until the game next week and that game is against the Pies.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I'm with you Footyhead, don't think Spriggs can play. I thought the same when he was at Geelong. But I'm happy enough to see him get a chance.

cressa seems to rate him. He showed poetential at geelong, think the move will do him the world of good. I predict he will become a swans regular.

If Cressa rated Spriggs at the catery why did they let him go so quickly?

                        Too many midfielders.

I would swap 2 or 3 "B" grade midfielders for 1 "A" grader - Which one would you keep and / or which one would you go after????

                          Out Fosdike, ?? and ??

                          In Judd? or ??

Would an "A" grade midfielder work for the Swans gameplan? Short bursts and lots of them?? I would like someone to put their hand up and be and A grader for the swans

Who could that be? Bevan, Fixter, Moore Who knows?

I'm not sure whether one A grader on their own would make enough difference - make it two and we're on our way.

Williams was in the top echelon of midfielders in 2001/2 but it wasn't enough, even though he had a very good support cast of Cressa, Schwass and - for some of the time - Kelly.

The thing that makes Brisbane so potent is that they have 4 or 5 A grade midfielders. WC probably have two - but with a couple of excellent B graders in there too.

Crawford has been an A grader at the Hawks for many years but it hasn't got them very close. Buckley did manage to drag the Pies to two GFs but he had Licuria and Burns playing at top B level along side him.

Even if we used the money that seems we have in our salary cap, I doubt that we would get one A grader. Teams hold onto these players (Except the Swans Barry Mitchell and Greg Williams....) We go after these players and we get gazzumped. Well we are not going to get one this year anyway.

We need to train our own - long term projects etc..

Seems that you have to play with the cards that your dealt.

So I hope that Fosdike, Fixter, Schnieder, Bolton, Spriggs, Kirk and Co can give the old lads a hand. Maybe one can lift and be more than useful.
