I liked the part about no injuries to our guys.
Now for next week and the game in which Fitzy did his knee and Lewis broke his arm a few pre-seasons ago.
Ha anyone sited M.Davis or Eriksen in the pre-season?
How did Grundy go on the field last night? In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate. -

I am not responsible for the apostrophe on Nicks', all of us who were able to pass grade 5 of course know that it is "Crows sneak home despite Nicks's heroics""I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Just for everyone's amusement I'm going to leave my apostrophe error up there for all to see......it was a typing error! (and the dog ate all my homework)."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

What's the name of the USENET Law that suggests that whenever you criticise someone's grammAr, you'll make an error in that same post?Comment

You're completely wrong there, Reggi. Nicks' is correct, I'm afraid....maybe it's Grade 6 grammer where you get to what to do with possession apostrophe's when the person's name ends with an s. Still pronounced Nicksis, though. You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Now children, are we going to worry about how you spell Nicks's name.
Or are we going to talk about losing by a point to the lowly Crows in Adelaide?
Here are 2 good threads from Bigfooty about what went on last night.
Be interested on hearing other people's thoughts on the game from those who were there. Conditions were terrible, as it never stopped raining, but it was played very competitively and pretty close all night. We still have a lot of problems up forward, but there's nothing wrong with the...
Thanks to Liz for asking the South Australians how our fellas went.

I think we did ok and its not an important game. I wish we wouldnt lose to the crows though, of all the teams to lose toTheres not much left to sayComment

We lost by a point, but it was a practice game in awful conditions so it's not that important. I'm pleased that Nicks can still be dangerous at full forward. I have always liked him and it's good that we have an alternative for FF should MOL not be fit.
On the possessive apostrophe, I'm not certain about its use here. I think that "Nicks's" may be better because the noun is singular, but I consider "Nicks'" to be acceptable usage. I will reserve judgement on this because I need to look up this fine point of English grammar. I'm just happy that the apostrophe was used in its correct sense of indicating possession, and wasn't another example of the "greengrocers' plural" finding its way into a newspaper."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment
