Is their any reason to believe Roos will actually move Kennelly to the midfield? I know many of us would like to see it, but I was under the impression that he'd be a half-back a while longer.

So you're proposing B2 is dropped?

          Tis unlikely.

And while splitting the pre-season form of Doyle, Ball and Jolly might be hard, going in with all three would be a brave move I reckon. There are already a fair number of tallish players in the team and I suspect they might run out of legs without another small player capable of taking turns through the middle. I am expecting Spriggs to get a game first-up.

I also think that Nicks is pretty certain of a start regardless of the availability of Crouch.

That said, I think it is a very difficult task to pick a best 22, even allowing for the absences of Saddo, Crouch (prob) and Schauble. I think we probably have a best 14 or 15 and then another 10 or so players almost equally capable of filling the remaining places.

personally and i cant speak fro bleed red blood but i put kennelly on the wing so i could start maxfield on the half back flank, but i doubt ill even be close to the team.... its who id pick, not a guess at what they will do.

Hall, Davis, McVeigh, Mathews, O'Keefe, Bolton, Williams, Maxfield, Schneider, Doyle, Kennelly, James, O'Loughlin, Barry, Saddington, Nicks, Bolton, Ball, Roberts-Thomson, Kirk, Goodes, Bevan.

Defies belief that Buchanan might miss after kicking 4 goals, but unless we go in with one less tall (probably James or perhaps Saddington), I can't see who will miss out for him.

Jolly and Dempster will be close. Spriggs a little further away.

Monty has a case for being ahead of Schneider and Bevan at this stage, maybe McVeigh as well.

He was listed in our best last week against the Crows and I had him as best in the team against the Lions. I would be amazed if he missed out.

                    No one has mentioned Fosdike.
Like it or NOT, we all know he'll get a run, don't we?

                    ...or is he injured?
I haven't heard anything about him lately.

i think fossie could have a good year and become the player i know he can be. But round 1 i think some people are ahead of him.

Saddington is going to play at least a few games in Canberra (or so I read) so he's out.
Roos has said that Goodes will play in defense at first, so we will only need one of James or LRT or maybe Dempster (too small?) to replace Schauble.

So from your list I'd have:
                        OUT:
Saddington (Canberra), LRT (or James - I prefer James), Doyle (I prefer Jolly).

                        IN:
Buchannon (he's a big hope for this yaer), Jolly (he and Doyle are much of a muchness ATM), Fosdike (I don't like it, but I think its inevitable).

So the team list will be something like this:

                        FB: CBolton James Bevan
                        HB: Kennelly Goodes Barrry
                        C: Maxfield Williams Mathews
                        HF: O'Keefe Hall Davis
                        FF: Schneider O'Loughlin Nicks
                        Ruck: Ball Kirk JBolton
                        Int.: Jolly McVeigh Fosdike Buchannon
                        Emg: Doyle Spriggs LRT Dempster

I also wouldn't be at all surprised if Spriggs got a game, but I like that less than Fosdike playing.
Also I'm sure that at least one of O'Loughlin, Goodes or Davis won't play. Roos' has flagged that he doesn't want too many underdone players in the team, and I'm sure he had someone in mind.

I was reminding myself to put Bolts in, must of forgotten.

Where would you play Nicks? I like him in defense, especially if LRT is there, for the experience.

I'd like to give Doyle a full game at FF. And I'd like to ease Ball in to the ruck work, giving Jolly 70% of the rucking.

I'd like to see LRT on the much vaunted Barker or Holland. Give him a whole game there.

Maybe drop McVeigh and Bevan for Buchy and Goodes.

I reckon Nicks in defence, too.

Last year, when he swung back there, he seemed to calm it down and give it more structure. With Schauble out that seems pretty important - it will help whichever of Dempster, James, LRT play settle down, especially if Leo is given the number one defensive role.

If Davis, O'Loughlin and O'Keefe all play, there's not much call for him up in the forward line in any case.
