    TV and Radio Coverage

May I just say I am disgusted by the lack of coverage Sydney matches are getting over here. I haven't seen one game so far apart from the Freo one. They have not been on free to air TV nor on the radio. It is quite frankly disgusting. When 7 had the rights we used to at least get a replay usually every week. 9 & 10 have right royally @@@@ed it up. I cant even get coverage of the radio on the net because to access the ABC site you need to be a @@@@ing
    Einstein.
It is bloody disgusting I am bloody frustrated.
And now I think I will go to the pub and take my anguish out on a couple of pints.

The trip to Sydney is looking more and more likely. I HATE WA.

Just wondering, did you go to the Sydney vs Freo match? Why don't you just subscrine to foxtel......the match was live on foxtel today......but the way we performed, you didn't miss much!

Yes I did go to the Freo match. I dont subscribe to Foxtel as I still am at home with parents. But even so since when should you have to pay to watch Footy. The AFL is so bloody greedy. We used to get coverage on NewsRadio. What happened to that.

No i realise that. But hang on Seven gave footy bloody good coverage for 25 years. And that was free. It was probably better coverage than what 9&10 offer now. So.......

It is true that channel 7 gave better coverage of footy than 9 & 10 are doing now, but unfortunately if you want to watch every Sydney match each season, you now need Foxtel if you don't live in NSW.

Seven did give a fantastic commitment, probably at their own expense with some matches.

But 9 and 10 realised last year that people will not necessarily watch just any old game... they want the big matches. I know that I'd prefer to see Brisbane vs Essendon over Fremantle vs. Geelong any day.

Fox Footy isn't a great expense. I think it costs something like $2 a week on top of your normal Foxtel package. It's been worth it this year just for the fact that I've seen each match.

This is something that will be of benefit to people currently with Foxtel but not Fox Footy - today's record was advertising a $75 season pass.

I'm not impressed seeing as I paid $99 for mine, so I'll be ringing and requesting $25 refund, and if they refuse, I'll cancel the subscription to Fox Footy, get the refund that way, and then resubscribe at the cheaper rate. I could understand them extending their $99 offer, but going below what they wanted for people who pre-paid well in advance is very low indeed!

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

We also paid $99 for our subscription, but my understanding was that the $99 is for the whole year & the $75 is just for during the footy season......

You cant just complain about the lack of coverage, what about the quality of the coverage? The Telstra Stadium game was awful when they crossed to the opposite side of the ground, thats Ch 10. Ch 9 on Sunday continually buggered up. They went blank for periods and crossed to the crowd when they should be showing the play. It is very amature style and they dont seem to be prepared for the games.
                    - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

No, but I pay for my membership and I would at least like to get radio coverage of every game.

No it isn't a charity but you only pay for a product that you think you are getting value for, unfortunatley there is no competition for Foxtel in the west and we are stuck with what can be only described as a disgrace.

I know that people will say don't get it then but we have no CHOICE and thats the bloody problem for non-west team surpporters.

I know I stated my point twice but I really hate paying for crap.

Well that may be the issue there - I didn't actually look into all the details before my rant, so I think I'll shut up now

Some of you were probably aware that we decided not to rejoin the swans this year and to put the money saved towards a foxtel subscription and the footy station package instead ($99 for the year for the footy as well as about $70 a month for the other mostly unwatched stuff). Well, I am very impressed with the footy coverage from fox, less so with some of the commentators. But I think I have now seen at least some of every game played so far this year (a real footy nut here im afraid). But the truth is it wasn't a saving in the end cos after the richmond trial match the palms got sweaty, the sweat started pouring and the family began moaning, so we signed up with the swannies again anyway.

I have listened to swanies matches for several years now on abc newsradio in sydney...doesn't it broadcast the game in WA as well? And I think there is another station in sydney that broadcasts the games live, though I have yet to find it on my tinny radio...
But I do agree that it is not fair on people who have had a good go from 7 for the past 25 years, to have to put up with 9 and 10s inferior (IMHO) product, or be forced into a $70+ a month pay TV subscription
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

It's not just that they don't show Sydney very often, but Freo and Weagles are on every #$@#ing week. It's the same in Adelaide with the local teams. By the end of the season you are so sick of the local teams (and *cough* supporters) you start to look forward to test cricket.
