Hands up those who question Bolton's courage or endeavour.
NO
Right, now hands up those who question his ability to consistently do something productive with it when he gets it, or to consistently keep his feet, or even the team's ability to provide an option for him when he has the ball in close...
I don't think Bolton himself is a problem. The problem is the Swans' as a whole. There are not many top 8 clubs where Jude would be seen as an indispensible part of the midfield, and the fact that he is so important to the Swans perhaps gives a good indication of where we are at. Here's hoping he has a good year and here's hoping he becomes less and less important to us as a young, fast and skillful midfield develops. Any player with his courage and commitment to the ball will be valuable to any side. But plenty of players have that, be they excellent players, ordinary players or otherwise. When that is the best thing that you can say about your best midfielder, that he has a bit of ticker, now wonder you lead the comp in stoppages.Comment

And I defy you to prove me wrong!Comment

I can't. It is simply an opinion. But, by indispensible I mean 'pretty much have no hope of the team reaching its best without him', and I don't think that that's Jude. Valuable, yes. Leader by example, yes. Hard, yes. But not 'indispensible'.Comment

When you think about it, any team that has a truly indispensable player is unlikely to win the flag anyway.Comment

Ah well, I guess 'indispensable' is both relative and subjective.

And as has been pointed out elsewhere, one of the Swans great strengths is its 'evenness' and versatility across the list. That said I think a fit Schauble is very important and almost necessary for a successful (and entertaining) 2005.
As soon as Dunkley stopped being vital to the Swans, we immediately switched the reliance to Schauble? Unfortunately, Schauble's body isn't as resilient as Dunkley's was.Comment
