    Stand up and Be Counted

We came back and did ok after being wolloped in the early stages. Fine we were missing a few names but when it counted the supposed "leadership group " were disgraceful. Our big names were nowhere to be seen when it came down to the crunch. BBBH? wht is wrong with the bloke. Sure he had a few games in certain areas at certain times but his work ethic in the last 10mins was poor. Tadgh Kennelly take your hat off. A standard set that the rest should be trying to emulate.

Where was Captain Stuie? Where was Fossie - except when falling 10m short from 40m out. Davis was reasonable. Schneider put in again. C Bolton was absolutely awesome.

Tadgh and Craig B were the only players that shoud get paid for that game. What was all this supposed fitness to the extreme on the pre-season. Too tired and to $hi+
    - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

IMHO Stuey and Fossie were 2 of our best. Stuey did a lot of work across half back, mopping up on the rebound from defence. Our biggest problem that has really been shown up in the past 2 games is our lack of a genuine ruckman, and our inability to win much ball from bounces/throw-ins etc. We were absolutely murdered today at ground level around the packs today.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Gee mate where were you today, in the Middle East or something. The captain had 27 possessions and was voted second BOG., and he was off the ground in the third quarter.

We would have done a lot worse without Maxfield's effort - don't forget his 2 important goals. Craig Bolton is starting to become pretty reliable in defence. Tadhg's running lifted the team in the second half (not to mention that goal), but what was wrong with BBBH today? His marking in the third qtr was good, but he really struggled today - maybe the pressure of having Plugger watching in the stands? Definitely didn't work hard enough today.

Well, I actually considered quite alot of players when choosing my TLM votes this week... I thought about Craig Bolton, Stuart Maxfield, Nic Fosdike, Tadhg Kennelly, Jude Bolton, Jason Ball and Adam Goodes.

I reckon that's because when he's in the backline he's never near an opponent and constantly needs to chase. He really does not seem to have a good football brain in my view, and should be on the wing where he can use his natural ability to full effect.

On the contrary. I think Tadhg has a phenomenal football brain!!

Unfortunately, it's the wrong type of football The problem is that he is still so new to the game - his natural instincts might make him do something, and it won't be until a second or two later that he realises.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Kennelly's wonderful goal appears to have hidden what was a pathetic 3 quarters from him.9 of his miserable 12 possessions came in the last quarter.Nick Davis touched the ball once in the second quarter and once in the third; appears to be a frontrunner. Both Boltons looked good again.Williams will probably get cited on video. What was the point of playing Ablett if you give him 5 minutes game time?

Which is why I think he should be on the wing!

I didn't think Kennelly did a lot, besides provide a bit of excitement during the abortive comeback.

Davis was very disappointing again - a waste of talent. I can understand's Collingwood's frustration with him.

Craig Bolton was excellent - a real find.

Jude Bolton tried hard as usual, but didn't really do very much. Way too few disposals for a key midfielder, and giving away free kicks by falling on the ball.

Agree on Ablett - why not give him proper game time when the rest of the team is struggling? I don't Roos has shown a lot so far this year - it could just as easily be Eade coaching at the moment.

I feel Davis was okay - he tried hard to get the ball - passed it on and it was blundered. Give him a chance - I still feel he went okay - lot of the others need to look at their playing game well before Davis.
Why does Hall never come and get the ball, get in front of his opponent?
Maybe like previously stated he is now on a good wicket up here.
He was supposed to be a great get - going to get lots of goals - couldn't even get those he went for.
I think we need to get Plugger back to coach the "goalies" needs to get in their ear etc especially into Barry Hall's ear. Come on Plugger give some input to the club - you like the club and what it gave to you
                          Love those Swans

Our discussions at the game about Barry were that he was coming too far forward too often. The balls were going over his head where he had to leap to get them and/or not have a lot of power in his grab. Whether this was the delivery (too long) or him overrunning where the ball was going too, I don't know. But it was happening a lot, from different players, so I suspect Bazza was coming too far forward.

Then, on the few occasions that he took the grab, he missed the goal because it was a difficult angle or too long.

He didn't do very well at all in contests, and as has been commented, there was noone around to crumb and provide him with support.

It was quite a disappointing day.

Davis has a limited preseason so he is still a fair way off the mark at the moment, so hold off on him for a few weeks yet. He is still on track to kick 40+ goals this year which is all you can expect from him, even at the top of his form, all he needs to improve on is getting more off the ball and being more a feeder to hall and also providing some drive from the midfield, because getting 6- 7 kicks a game and a couple of goals isnt acceptable for him, he must be getting 15 plus possesions a game to be the truly damaging player he can be and should be.
