We don't kick big scores, and haven't for most the past two years. Unreasonable to expect this is suddenly going to change.
      LOL.

18 goals is hardly a big score on a small, dry ground against a shocking opponent. The team was only really switched on for odd 10 minute periods here and there. They cruised for most of the rest of the game and were guilty of some terrible over-use - even lairising - at times.

good summation Liz. The opposition was sub-standard but you can only beat who you come up against. Players were still a bit rusty, I think a bit of the lairizing would be found out against good opposition, but the pressure and intangibles like shepherds, one %'s and second efforts were great. Still a bit disappointed with McVeigh, think he needs to step up a bit more. While it was good to see Davis doing the percentage things, I'm not sure about the short passes inside 50, I think tackling and chasing are necessary but a player like him needs to be encouraged to play with flair and not become too unselfish to the detriment of the team. Will be interested to see the forward structure once MOL returns.

I thought the whole forward line put enormous pressure on the defenders, most of the time, when they had the ball. They chased hard and were rewarded, occasionally, with some good tackles.

Yeah, little Monty (ha) was way too relaxed and his disposals were shocking and if we'd kicked straight, we'd have killed them.

It should have been a 100 plus point victory. The Hawks can count themselves lucky they weren't pantsed completely.

That's funny, because before the game you thought it was an unreasonable expectation. If it takes a big person to admit they got it wrong, there's a lot of small people on this board.

We did let them off a bit in the final quarter but it was reassuring to see that the Swans were prepared to demolish a poor opponent - something we have seemed reluctant to do in the past. It may have been gratifying last year to beat the unbeaten Saints but it was inexcusable that we went down to the Tigers. If we win against all the second rung teams and still lift to the big events we are in with a chance. I know Roos wants to build Fortress Sydney but if we don't beat poor teams convincingly when playing away, too, then we'll always be playing catch up in the finals.

60 points is an okay win. After all, one of the most mis-matched games last year was the crippled Swans vs Port and they let us off with a 60+ point defeat.Of course a ten goal defeat of the Lions, Power or Saints would be wonderful. But let's not get ahead of ourselves: the Roos and Swans would have to be about even money this weekend after their respective wins.
