    Flooding...

It has to have a place and time. On a small oval like Manuka, why would you bother? Why can't we back our backs to take care of the opposition forwards. The Roos have an average forward line at best.
How many times today did you see the Swans move the ball quickly forward, only to find Barry Hall contesting against 3-4 Roos backmen, with not a single Swans small forward in sight? Or how many times did the ball go straight to Archer?
On a big ground this ploy might be useful, but on a small ground I reckon we have the players to be able to conteat one on one. Paul Roos has a lot to answer for this loss.

Manuka is one of the biggest playing areas in the competition.

It is huge. I was suprised at how big it was. I would not like to be standing in the centre needing six to win off the last ball...

Is that right? Seemed like 3 quick kicks and the ball had travelled the length of the ground.

Regardless, I think we have to have enough faith against the middle of the road teams to back our players to play one on one. We moved the ball into our forward line enough times to kick a winning score, but there was no-one there to capitilise.

Did you notice how much space there was between the centre square and the 50m arc? 15-20m I reckon. It is big.

Manuka?s playing area is slightly larger than the MCG?s. It is 162.5 metres long x 138.4 m wide; the playing area is just on 18,000 square metres. The MCG is 160x138 and 17,600.

The only grounds that have a bigger playing area than Manuka are; York Park, The Gabba and Darwin. Manuka is longer (goal to goal) than; Optus Oval, MCG, Cairns, Telstra Stadium, Telstra Dome and the SCG.

              Where does Subiaco rate?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Subiaco?s dimensions are: 175.6 metres x 122.4 metres with a playing surface area of approx. 17,200 sq metres. It is the longest AFL ground but the third narrowest. The area of the playing surface is actually a bit smaller than the average for grounds used for AFL.

Size of the oval is irrelevant when the swnas play predictable football, we need to mix up the forward and defensive structure to catch sides out. Bring in Dempster and release Kennelly to the wing, and give Amon a spell
