    I wasn't being entirely serious....

Yes, he kicked a brilliant goal, but it would take alot more than that to grant a player permanent immunity from my wrath.

I thought Bolton was one of our better players in the first quarter - got a lot of the ball and used it OK. Not many other Swans were doing that.

Did very little for next quarters but was one of about 16 Swans who you can point to in the final quarter for making a couple of telling contributions. Not a good game overall but probably no better or worse that most of the rest of the team.

It was a good sight seeing him kick a big goal from outside 50 on the run. Willo kicked one as well. Our midfield has never really been a big contributor to our goal tally but hopefully this will give them more confidence to have a ping on the run.

          Jude Bolton over-rated

Jude over-rated hack. 24 possessions. Goal from 55 metres. First player at the bottom of the pack. Some hack!

I suppose you could create a thread like this for most of the Swans players.

This thread is full over-hyped nonsense - and its plainly fiction.

I think a few on this forum don't actually pay attention to the makeup of the Swans side. When a key position player is missing through whatever reasons, the side not only misses them on the ground, but then has to matchup on the player that would have opposed the missing player. Bolton has not only lifted him game over the past two seasons, but he had done this when he is now the main 'in and under' man for the Swans, as our man Cressa hung up the boots.

I think he and kirk do a great job in a midfield that still hasn't found the right combination. He was great in the first quarter - but he was so solid around the 'in dispute' ball in the last quarter.

Anyway enough of my rant - in short - you guys are horsh.

All sides have this problem, but it's the sides that don't have the depth to cover missing KPP players that would suffer more.

Of course - but some of the criticisms in this thread seem to overlook the fact that not only has Jude stepped up his game but he has done this in a weaker midfield.

Agreed that the great thing about footy is that everyone has opinins - but some of the justifications given are so insignificant I wonder if the watcher of the game is really looking at the entirity of the sport. A thread I have just read hinted at the removal of Barry and C.Bolton because they were beaten in aspects of play last night.

It just seems to me unconsidered compulsive posting tripe - and I am sure I am not the only who gets a fraction annoyed when the good discussion gets over shouted by the mindless player bashing. Sure - there is cause for some of it... but when it takes over from the actual discussion - it kills the anything of worth.

I have given detailed blow-by-blow comments on Bolton's play last year, which I can't be bothered doing again, so I stand by my opinions (which is not that he's an overrated hack BTW).

That was a bit tongue-in-cheek (sometimes people don't seem to get the sarcasm here...).

I dont think that post was meant to be taken seriously.

And this is a discussion forum; we are discussing Bolton. There is always going to be "player bashing" if people are of the opinion that players are not playing well enough. At the same time, there will be praise if players play well.

Take the good with the bad. There is definately some merit with a few posts in this thread (esp re Bolton's kicking ability) so the "compulsive posting tripe" you refer to in this particular discussion is not justified.

I understand the sarcasm - yet sometimes it is simply hard to discern through the written word, especially on a forum like this where sarcasm and serious thought are seperated by an amusing 90 line injoke signiture. When i first read much of this thread I was guessed that most of it was sarcastic, until I saw the same inferences from the same posters in other threads. Who knows...?

I appreciate that wholistically I am fairly new around here, and in the opinion of most, not really worthy of throwing my preverbial opinions around. Its just my humble view that over the past season or so that I have been reading the forum, a majority of the bashing seems to be for the sake of it - rather than pointed discussion - but hey, as has been suggested - its a discussion board....why should i expect anything more...

At the same time, there will be praise if players play well.
Yes, in much smaller, single serving portions...

Take a read over the thread - yes...some are intelligent others can be categorized as ....tripe (for want of a better word).

Again...my opinion only...and I suppose with this post I am only reinforcing the status of 'killjoy' that most have probably labelled this author. I suppose the frustration of a years reading and not actually posting anything to the counter has impacted on the plethora of emails that have been flung over the past week.

A lot of them base their assessments on number of disposals.

I agree with the commentator from the game at Manuka last year: 'Looks like Jane - plays like Tarzan'
Maybe not as accurate as Tarzan, but I love his attitude.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
