What have we been given in the last 10 years than everyone else, other than a chance to spend more of our money under the salary cap and a chance to list a player pre draft who lives within 50kms of the GPO?

Got to agree, that the "favours" we have been given died out some time ago, with Lockett being the only true reward.

What about Roos? Wasn't he a priority too?

I don't think other supporters despise the Swans any more than any other team.

                Just a few observations:
                1 We sadly miss Schauble.
2 It's good to see a kid being groomed for a key defensive position LRT, but it may be at our short term loss when that kid hasn't a football background and is prone to making junior level mistakes such as kicking into the man on the mark. Still, it's worth perservering.
3 Trying to consistently hit a target from 10-20 metres away on the full is much harder than when the target is 30-45 metres away because you need to pull the kick rather than kick right through it. When your game plan revolves around the short kick turnovers are bound to happen.
4 Amon Buchanan is by far the most gifted small in our team. He is due a change of luck as far as the bounce of the ball is concerned and when it happens he is going to kick a bag of 6-8 goals.
5 As bizzare as it sounds I'm hoping for a few injuries to some of our midfielders because I'm convinced that the strength of the team will not be seen until the depth of the list can be tested.
6 Stuey has made one run from the back half in 2 games. He must be injured or has a different role this year.
7 The swans don't look wound up just yet.

I thought this was the AFL and kinda assumed that only players who could already play got a go at the big time. LRT at CHB will provide us with a short time loss and at this stage I don't see us getting any of that loss back. He'll be back in Canberra by Rd 5 and then the search will begin again.

What aload of crap! If the boys have been following this theory no wonder are skills suck. You must ALWAYS kick through the ball if you dont the ball will float through the air as opposed to going sharp and hard over twenty odd meters.

I forgot about the little kiddies who struggle to kick 20 metres and would need to kick right through the ball just to cover the distance. I should have prefaced my" theory" with "most grown men with the ability to kick the ball over 20 metres"
Your point is well taken and my apologies for the glaring oversight.

True we teach the littlies this (and u would be surprised how far some of them can kick) but the same principle still applies. Skills arent taught enough at junior level u would be surprised how many AFL players have no left foot or have never been shown how to kick for goal properly. for what its worth I think Nick Davis has the best kicking action I have ever seen both field and goal kicking (apologies to Lockett)

You should always kick through the ball, no matter how far it is going. However, when kicking shorter distances players tend to hold their kicks more, which makes them less accurate and less effective.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

If you listened to talk back radio today in Melb old son you would have a different opinion. We are seen as the worst side going around as far as style of play.

Robert Shaw from Essendon probably hit the nail on the head when he said, "if you play Sydney at their own game and play them close and hard they don't know what to do. Let them go and they will rip you apart with their pace from the backline".

Now he is on the Essendon coaching staff, and it is a fair thing to believe the rest of the clubs will play us the same way, that's why Roos has to come up with something different or at least variations.

                              Skilts, on Buchanan.

It doesn't matter how many times you get the bounce of the ball if can't kick straight you won't kick goals. His shots on goal, twice on the weekend when set, on his own, under no obvious pressure and on his correct side were nothing but shouse.

As was his lovely out on the full from 30 metres the week before when running in unimpeded.

Sadly this is symptomatic of our small men except Davis, and he doesn't get the pill enough.

And one more thing on the wash up.

It is the same old, same old, week in week out, alah Eade. Bring some bloody new blood into the team and let some of these middle range players who constantly let us down feel some heat for a change.

If you are not dropping players who every week make the same mistakes, they will just keep doing it and put their hand out on payday as usual, go home put up the feet and say. "oh well who we got next week, how easy is this".
