With the new rules he would be safe and I'm pretty sure he would dominate. I just can't see any other position for him. He plays his best and most consistant football there and gets to man up to a 7 foot hack who can't go with him.

Ruck rover in the same way as Koutafides. Kouta was awesome against Essendon on Fri night - 8 clearances. Dominated in the centre from Carlton's dominant tap ruckmen. We should be able to do benefit the same way.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The only memory of Goodes in the ruck on Saturday was the one he thumped towards our own goals and eventually led to a Kangaroos goal.Comment

The one I remember, he was moving toward the opposition goal when he punched it in that direction. The commentators suggested toward the boundary line would have been a better direction (not nearly as exciting though, which is the most important thing).Comment

He isn't a clearance specialist, but in the ruck he could be the 4th midfielder to allow Kirk to tag and give us 3 midfielders against their 2nd and 3rd best midfielder (noting that most other rucks can't bend down past their knees!)Originally posted by NMWBloods

Kouta could go one-to-one with a 180cm midfielder which Goodes has not done so far. Kouta ground skills are outstanding. He uses his body against smaller players very well too. Goodes in contrast, uses his athelitism advance to NEGATE taller players and use his better grounding skills against taller players (not shorter one) to his advantages. While they have similar physical attribute, their style of plays are different. He would not dominate playing short, i.e, as a midfield. Ruck is his best position, if not, key defensive post is his second best. Didnt we notice that whenever he is going forward, they will mark him with a flanker, not a genuine key position guy.Originally posted by NMWBloods
