Win at all costs. I am happy with boring wins, but guess what ... I'm not so in love with the boring losses.

i guess then the question is (apart from actually winning the bloody game) do the swans and or teams in general have a responsibility to entertain????
The question is : Do the Swans have a responability to play hard committed football, continually endevouring to improve their skills, while playing every second of every game with their haeds over the ball and never droping their heads even if they are losing??
The answer is: YES!
They don't do this hence all the critizisim.

Just on the entertaining aspect, I think that is an element, however I don't think they should go out of their way to entertain, it should be a part of playing good football.
Why do we want a premiership? What do you get out of it? I've no idea what it might feel like, but I guess it would feel great at the time but one of the key things will be the enjoyment of collecting and reading all the match reports on it, watching the TV reports afterwards and buying the DVD and watching it frequently.
Now imagine if we won the grand final 6.5.41 to 4.6.30. The entire game consisted of us playing keepings off or forcing a ball up or pushing it over the line for a throw in. It is considered by everyone not just the most boring grand final, but the most boring game ever played. It's so bad that it's not really worth watching ever again on DVD or reading about.
So, we've won a flag, but it's one best forgotten. Would anyone gain much satisfaction from this?Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Does anyone remember what a shutdown game the Loins played against us R1 last year? So we just did kick to kick and would have won if Jason Ball had kicked halfway straight. I wonder what the game plan will be on Saturday. The Lions seem to have switched their game plan to World Championship Wrestling this year. It'd be fun if they did the thug bit while we ran around kicking goals. But I guess we'll just have to wait until Saturday night to find out. Winning at the gabba rates as a great day - I hope it happens.Comment

Swans Boring? Maybe if your a Vic.
A couple points have to be kept in mind.
First, we play at the SCG, not exactly Subiaco. Our midfielders are not the elite in the competition(This was something Roosy wanted to address in the offseason, unfortunately we were unable to get Chris Judd), and lastly, of course the Victorians want to dump on us. For the most part the Swans have had their way with the Victorian clubs since Roosy took over.
I love how the Swans play. Their backline is one of the more exciting backlines in the comp. BTW, what's so boring about a team that wins a very strong percentage of it's games and is statistically on of the most accurate teams in front of the sticks?
One bad game and it sounds like some of you want to run this coaching staff out of town. Relax, it's round 2.Comment

Firstly, plenty of Swans supporters are Victorian, and secondly, just because we win doesn't make the games an exciting spectacle - how exciting is it to watch continuous stoppages!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
