      All similar, but

      What about Bayes?

Dyson would be lucky to make top 22 on his form with us, (his fur overcoat he once wore may squeak him onto a list but not football).

Some other possibilities surely Troy Cook, Shannon Grant?

I think Luff would just have to be on the bench, after all it was dubbed the 'Troy Luff Stand' for some years!

Forgot about Shannon Grant, but he was just okay with us.

I would have included Bayes (and I did originally) however I limited it to post '96.

Dyson was a very good player and would easily have made our current side.

                Can't leave O'brien out
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

That's a mouth-lickingly good midfield, though I'd probably stick Goodes (2003 vintage) in the ruck ahead of Ball. Imagine if we could pick and choose which vintage to have of each player:

                  PK 1995-1998 (pre-knee)
                  Cressa 1997
                  Schwatta 1998
                  Willo 2002
                  Kirk 2004
                  Goodes 2003

I'd try and find a place for Wade Chapman (1996 vintage) in the team - super little nuggetty player with all the aggression and fearlessness of Bevan but more polished skills.
Wouldn't put Stafford in the SUPER class anywhere. Good and serviceable. SUPER means he should have got heaps of Brownlow votes.

He's had 46 over his career and I'd hazard a guess that he got none prior to 1996 and very few since 1998. I'd guess he averaged 12 or 13 during that 3 year period (including several hauls of 3) - not bad when you're in a team with Roos, PK, Plugger picking them up regularly.

He came home with a flurry with 2-1-0-3 in the last 4 games. I can't remember but were we out of finals contentions by then?
