There's not much news in the headline but the fact they regard Cressa as their secret weapon is a worry. Though the press is going to have to make up it's mind if Roos has changed Sydney to playing a different, more dour, game or whether Cressa could still know our secrets.

I wonder if the Lions will repeat the flooding game they played R1 last year against us? If they do, I bet we are still reading about "Swans flooding" on Monday.

Yeah, I read this and thought it was just a chance for Akermanis to get his name in the media again. Can you imagine when he retires, and goes into media??

Be interesting to see how much "insider Knowledge" they have.

Surely their scouts have watched enuff of the swans to work out their game plan, without any help from Cressa. If they haven't Matthews should be looking for better support staff.

One might think that Roos is feeling a bit of the heat alone with the Swans.
Good. Backs to the wall might be just what this team and it's coaching staff need.

Congratulations on a pretty fair effort for the dumbest post to grace RWO. Only a fortnight ago we were discussing how the Swans were in good shape with few injuries and lots of young players doing well in the reserves and able to step up. Now we want to "clean out" our established players and see if we have better luck with a new batch of untried players. It's yet to be shown that it is going to work for the Saints yet (and that "super talented team" only got one game further than the Swans last year - the same position that the talentless hack Swans got to in 2003). If we find that our next "rebuild" isn't working do we give it until two games into the season before we start playing for priority picks for the following season? We could keep that up for quite a while - maybe even another 70 years.

Of course that would allow you to keep sniping from the sidelines for the rest of your life so at least one person (I can't use the term "supporter") would be happy.

Im guessing Cressa knows a fair bit more detail about how the Swans actually play, and especially how each player plays the game.

Or perhaps this "insider" knowledge is regarding more intimate knowledge like how Ryan O'Keefe likes his hair done and what Jude Bolton REALLY got up to with Delta.

Typical Akermanis - I wish he was a Swan. I think it is great to hear players with some personality mouthing off and stirring up a bit of interest. He has said nothing that has not already been said, and not much that has not been said on here. Aside from being an exciting and talented footballer, his role in the team is to upset the opposition and get under their skin - give them something extra to think about. If he can extend that role to off the field as well, why not? Surely the reference to Cresswell is intended to put a bit of doubt into the Swans' minds, to deflate any confidence they have a left a little more. I look forward to the Swans playing Brisbane partly because I enjoy the niggle between him and Crouch, and the talent that he has trying desperately to escape the close coverage he gets.

Maxfield's comments were interesting too. No mention of Eade (I expect that there is little love lost there) and description of Roos as a tactical maestro. Is that a back-handed compliment?

That's why he can say stuff and it gets under people's skin. He's probably always been a smarta*se but as a talented player he gets away with it.

I can't stand him and would hate for him to be a swan. We don't need that arrogance here. I prefer our players to be tongue-in-cheek without the egotism, which they are

I enjoy that too, bit a bit of bluff and bravado would be nice, as would the ability of an Akermanis. I'm not saying that any of our current crop should go mouthing off (I can't think of any with the personality type to suit) but I enjoy the way Aker plays his footy and I enjoy his comments. Bring on Sat night.

If Aker was a tennis player, surely he'd be McEnroe - huge talent but an inability to put his brain in gear before he begins talking. Actually, I think that's just his public face - a friend who knows him but who has no interest of knowledge of any football code says he's just a nice, thoughtful guy who says surprisingly intelligent things. Personally, I blame the apparent brain damage on the hair bleach.

Chalk and cheese. Relative to other top 10 tennis players, Hewitt is a Brett Kirk type player with an Akermanis mouth. Unlike Akermanis he is not a natural flamboyant entertainer. It is his determination and doggedness that entertain more so than his flair. Akermanis does not whinge as much as Lleyton, nor (audibly) abuse umpires. Akermanis is less likely to carry on like a spoilt brat. He often tries to applaud the good play of others, but usually when he is on top in a match and even then it still seems forced. These are things that I thought would improve with age but he seems not to have matured at all. Maybe marriage will help. Being in a great team also helps Akermanis. If he mouths off and then has a shocker it is still likely that the team will have won to save his face, or that because they lost the media attention focuses on the team rather than him.

But really, it is not something I can rationalise. I like Aker, I don't like Hewitt. I'm sure neither are too concerned.
