I think it was a response to petitioning from families who wanted to take their kids to more games.

Loved Friday nites and miss them, gee having to take some clothes to work - no biggy and then if you work in the CBD have a few beers after work and walk the rest of the way, if you don't catch the train to Central and walk. Of course then you can have a few 'roadies' along the way.

As far as family, well I have two ratbags and it gives me a chance to get away, gotta love that!

Maybe I am biased as my first AFL game was a Friday nite game at the SCG and that was the nite I fell in love with the game.

          Blinddog,

My first AFL game was a friday night too.

We played Richmond and smashed them by about 100 points!

          The year was 1997.

I remember the swans having a few friday nights games back then and i used to love them!I'd have no problem with friday nights at the SCG again.

As a rugby league and roosters fan,i am very used to dragging some footy gear to work and battling through the getting-to-home crowd around the Anzac Pde area!

Hey too bad if the roosters and swans clashed on a friday night!

Oh well,no more friday night games at the SCG anymore.

          Used to enjoy them.
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

My first game was a Friday night too! AND we played Richmond! But it was in 1994 and we posted our first win of the season, and everyone was stoked that we'd actually won!

swansrock4eva - it was raining that night, wasn't it?! I stayed home and missed it. I saw a lot of losses on the trot because I missed that game.

as someone who has to watch the swans on tv, if it went back to 7 and was live friday again id prefer the swans played then. Because i can never be bothered doing anything else friday night and its what suits me.

But whatever will give the game the best atmosphere would have my vote and is LIVE ON TV

                    Loved it!!

I used to go on Friday nites back in the mid 80's, while standing in the pub after drinking since about 12noon, someone suggested we go to the footy. So we saw it as an alternative pub.

Crowds were pretty small in those days. So it was no problem getting an area or a beer to enjoy yourself.

Like it or not, if C7 wins the rights back for Friday night football (and has to show it live in NSW/QLD) you will be seeing alot more of Brisbane & Sydney on Friday nights. It would make sense for C10 as well as they then not have to carry the burden of Brisbane & Sydney on Saturday nights alone.

But I would expect to see both Sydney and Brisbane play in Melbourne on a Friday night (expecially at the Dome in mid winter) with the game beamed back into the northern states live.

I don't recall it raining, but that may just be because I don't remember it!

I remember that game - the ONLY time I have missed the opening bounce because traffic into the city was so shocking the harbour tunnel was stationary and we missed the entire first quarter! I was not impressed!

And I just did the math, and I think last weekend was my 150th permiership season match... That's kinda frightening!

I'd like to see this too. The unfortunate thing about Sydney never playing Friday night matches in Melbourne is that we don't get a lot of "Big-game" experience for the finals. But unfortunately, as long as C9 have coverage of Friday night AFL, we probably won't see the swans playing Friday night footbal. =(

Not to sure we would see Sydney in Friday night fotball regardless of Seven getting the rights, can't see them putting it up against the Friday Night Rugby League in Sydney (&Brisbane)

i think it would be a huge benefit for the swans to be exposed to some friday night footy at the mcg! we need all the big game experience we can get
