Swans testing baffled Roos

HOW badly the Swans want to be an AFL force is the question Sydney coach Paul Roos wants answered, and quickly.
Roos: mystified
Miffed by the Swans' insipid first half in which the Crows were effectively given a 45-point jump-start on Sunday, Roos questioned the fortitude of players who took 60 minutes to switch on.
"We can only spend so much time on guys who maybe don't want to be successful," Roos said.
"Are they giving their all? If they are giving their all, perhaps they're just not good enough.
"Eventually you're going to have to make decisions that guys aren't up to it."
For the Swans to develop into a future AFL power, Roos wants to ensure Sydney have players on their rebuilding list capable of developing into an "Andrew McLeod or Mark Ricciuto".
He singled out a lack of second-tier players taking greater responsibility on days such as Sunday, when frontliners Barry Hall and Paul Williams were unable to have a profound influence.
This disparity between the two sides became a factor as less decorated Crows Matthew Bode, Chris Ladhams and Tyson Edwards tore apart the Swans while star teammates McLeod and Simon Goodwin were contained by Brett Kirk and Jared Crouch.
The credible efforts of Kirk and Crouch, Stuart Maxfield, Nic Fosdike and rotating ruckmen Adam Goodes and Jason Ball does give the Swans something to build on heading into Saturday night's pivotal clash with Hawthorn at the MCG.
