Contracts - When are they up

Comments by Roosy regarding some players that may not be up to it etc. begs some interesting questions.

When are the contracts up for these players?

Do some players suspect that their time is up and are just going through the motions, or are demotivated by their own inability to go to the next level as expected of them?

Have they been getting a free ride for too long, and now the gig is up?

Is Paul Roos a little more ruthless in his quest for success at our club than his quiet, unassuming exterior portrays?

Is he indeed cold and calculating?

A player whose contract expires this year, has a contract with the club until 31 October. If any player is delisted before then, they must be paid the balance of their contract to 31 October and if the player has more than a year to run in their contract (ie expires 31 October 2004 or beyond), they must be paid the balance of their contract for the current year, plus an additional year.

One of the many luxuries of an afl footballer. At least it isnt as bad as US sport
        - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

For the sake of the Sydney Swans Football Club, I hope Paul Roos IS cold, calculating & ruthless. THis will ensure the success of the Sydney Football Club. We need someone like Roos to do a bit of shaking up of the club.

            I don't think he's cold-hearted.

He wouldn't have given Warfe, McPherson, Seymour, Mathews, Bolton, Nicks and Kirk another year if he wasn't willing to let them show what they have or haven't got. He could have made cases for most or all of them to be delisted last year, if that was the agenda.

              obst
              bennett
              brockman

Time to bite the bullet Barry,Mathews,Seymour, Warfe & McPherson
with Saddington and Nicks as trades should all go to make way for more new blood next season.

Barry, Mathews, Seymour and Saddington? In one go?

You like seeing opposition goals, huh?

hmmm.. that's definitely a big chunk out of our defence to go!!!

Schauble and CBolton can't do it all..

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Why keep these guys? We've been holding onto them for too long. They either perform or they don't. If they're finding it too tough then move em on.

Still plenty of defenders in the team Ball was a good defender for WCE and can also move up the field. Goodes is a good defender & you could try Scott Stevens. O'Keefe & Fixter could be tried out.

Goodes, has never played as a defender for a period longer than 1 match. Ball was a Forward, who became a ruckman out of need and has a year or 2 left in him. Stevens has never played defence in his life, but because his tall and can mark everyone thinks he can just become a top rate defender. O'Keefe and Fixter can play defence but are seen more long term as midfielders.

In short by doing what you say it will take us longer to win a premiership.

Well that might work ok, but I still like seeing specialist defenders in defence!

Of course, if we TRADE for good defenders... then by all means clear out some of the uhhh.. "less talented" members of the squad.

Saddington has signed on for two more years I am sure only recently
when Goodes signed on for three years?
                              Love those Swans
