    Dempster and Spriggs

Did ok for 1st gamers in Swans colours.

Dempster looked like a real prospect. Only blemish was getting pinged for holding the ball by whistle happy umps.

And Spriggs looked good in the last quarter. Lacks a bit of polish but has a go. A keeper at this stage.

Early days for both, especially for Dempster but he seems to have a bit of speed about him and loves to run. Could be handy if we are to return to the running style of 2003.

Dempster certainly looked like he could hold his own at this level. Did some good things.

Spriggs didn't stand out too much, but on a mistake-riddled night, that may have been a good thing. He looked solid enough without being great (seems to be a theme in the Swans midfield).

Impressed by Dempster's long kicking and he was prepared to back himself and run with the ball a few times. Mostly looked quite composed too.

Spriggs can't be judged at all on tonight, unfortunately... he spent a lot of time on the bench, when he was recruited for his endurance. I'll wait and see how he goes in the fourth quarter of a game where he's been on all day.

Dempster was great - couldn't believe how great he played and with confidence - leave him in the steam. Spriggs had speed and didn't kick to the opposition.
Nick Davis although didn't get goals certainly played well up the field.

Go Dempster and Spriggs especially Dempster.
            Love those Swans

Dempster plays a bit like Kennelly which will add some running power to the backline as it seems Leo is playing deeper in the backline these days on key forwards.
That holding the ball on him was pretty poor decision in my book.

Dempster to eventually overtake Crouch's record as longest unbroken run from debut is my tip. Looked the goods.

Not a bad start from Dempster, certainly worth the wait I say.

As for Spriggs did nothing all night, until doing a few nice things late in the match so certainly should play next week.

Gee Barry a bit harsh on the polish bit on Spriggs. He had a couple of crucial handpasses, cool under pressure just in the back half, that opened up the Brisbane midfield like a tin of sardines. Gave us the run and I think you will find a couple of goals. Doesn't look like he likes kicking though.

My word I thought they played well. They were smart playing.

One thing i noticed alot in the pre season games was that Dempster has superb balance and showed it at crucal stage when we were 5 down with vossy and pike chasing him down near the brions goal. And Boy can he run like the wind...i think i'll call him Dasher now.

Too early on Spriggs but as liz said, threaded through some cool handballs in the packs to get those clearences so definately showed some promise IMO and enough to retain his spot for next week.

Thats what I mean. His kicking is ugly, and I hope he handballs all of his possesions. ala Greg Williams.

Dempster's(was his nickname originally being bandied about as SCOOTER?) second touch in senior footy was cool and calculated. Just about on the goal line a calmy kicked around the boundary to put it OOB past the fifty. Nice work and I hope he gets a good solid run in the seniors from now on. Crouchy had a shocker.
