Thought he played really well - didn't goal but got in and got the ball and got it out. Played up in defence like Barry did and back down again. He seems switched on and looking great.

In my household, which I must say was very unhappy until around five minutes into 4th quarter, we had called for Nick D to move into the midfield and use his long kicking to advantage. It certainly happened.
This should always happen when Davis is out of the game, take him to wing or centre and kick long into forward line.

I agree. He was one of our players who seemed comfortable with the ball (i.e. not rushing too much, thinking about what he was doing). It would be nice if he could develop his midfield skills further, and turn into a goal-scoring midfielder that the Swans often seem to lack (think the goals by Willo and Jude last night). Although he's so good in the forward line that it seems a shame to take him away from that area.Comment

Davis was in the midfield for a fair bit of the game. Interestingly the guys who looked most accomplished with the ball and with ground and player awareness are recruits from others clubs (eg: Davis, Williams). Maybe suggests something...Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Everytime Davis had the ball I felt confident, as opposed to just hoping something would happen. He was terrific. It's not the fact they are from other clubs it's those Tasmanian genes coming to the top. I think Nick really should just be playing around the ground and should only really be in the forward line if the ball is there or he is resting. He is an amazing shot for goal, but if he is in the midfield and delivering passes to forwards then he will get them the ball in a better position than any of the other guys running through our midfield, then the forwards don't need to be as good a kick as Nick!
ROK's last quarter goal came from an LRT crumb (folks on his back at the moment, but at least Lewis brought the ball forward in that instance!) that was brought about by Nick choosing the longer option in the middle of the ground. Looked spectacular because we aren't used to it, but it was just disciplined footy + excellent decision making + excellent disposal from Davis that lead to the crumbs going forward then goal to ROK.
19 touches from Nick equals about 29 touches from pretty much everyone else, his decision making is usually very good and his disposal on either side of the body by foot or hand is second to none. Great to see Nick in the middle of the ground fending guys off and showing a bit of toe.
Not that long ago he was close to the hottest young prospect in the comp, playing his best football around the ground for Collingwood.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

His father (Craig) played for Carlton, Nth Melbourne, Collingwood and the Swans. After he retired from the Swans Craig Davis became the CEO of the NSW-ACT AFL; so Nick grew up in a total football household.Originally posted by NMWBloods
