I think NOG will be our "find" this year. Pity our previous "find" in Schneider is loosing touch with the rest of the side. Always tough for a shart-shooting forward pocket though.
Last years "find" in Bevan is also experiencing 2nd year blues.

I was hugely impressed by NOG last night - easily his best game for the club. Can't blame him or play down his performance just because he was playing on someone who wasn't 100% fit. The fact is that he got a fair bit of the ball himself, took a few good grabs and really seemed to have some confidence - hopefully this year will be the making of him as a top level player for us.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

Fantastic game from Luke and deserves a lot after he has had quite a few injuries.

What I like about him is: he is a beautiful kick, pretty tough and quite quick.

I reckon he might have even played more games this his old man - Kevin.

        Lots more to come too.

Excellent game, some good marks, and tackles. He is really starting to find the ball and doo saomethnig with it also.

Great to see, the faith Roos put in him last year, has been repaid in the last 2 weeks.

I hope Bevan is not following the same path as Schneider (and Fixter the year before).
I think some of his more 'indiscriminate' tackles and charging at would-be tacklers when he has the ball looks like the inner leagy is trying to get out.
Someone needs to remind him that in Rules, if your tackled while in possession it's a free kick not a 'play the ball'!

Bevan's tackling has always been over-enthusiastic.

As the old man said to me during and after the game, " That boy Ablett can play ".

The old fella is a man of few words when it comes to Swans players or any AFL players for that matter (the last predictions being Cresswell in his first game wearing number 55 and Kirky's first game), but in this instance what he noticed in Ablett is someone with courage in abundance, a strong mark, a long and accurate kick straight down the ground (worth there weight in gold) and a player gaining in confidence every game.

Ablett has gone up a notch or three in my estimations in the last two games and I thought he was easily our best on Saturday night, as he played four quarters of good footy which at times kept the Swans in the game in the second and third quarters.

It was good to see from Lukey Ablett and I also thought that Dempster's first game was outstanding as he demonstrated a lot of poise (most noticeably nullifying Voss running into goal in the last 5 minutes) and also kicks the ball long and straight down the ground.
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

Ablett's best games for the swans have been against Brisbane now twice (includes his game on Lappin late last year) and probably the 2003 QF against Port.

His big test is to show he can be a gun in all matches, not just the big ones. Otherwise he runs the risk of being everything we hate about the swans - the unpredictable, hot & cold team that plays well against the good sides and badly against the bad sides.

In short - he needs consistency.

Yep, I think his best two games have been against Brisbane.

Note sure why everyone brings up the Port game though - seems an awful lot of weight was placed on that crawling effort as apart from that he had 2 handballs.

fair point, it was just the other game i could remember him dioing something memorable.

however, my point still stands. he is yet to have a good game against normal opposition.

Your correct, he was putting in his usual effort that night and the crawling effort was just so at odds with the mediocre/uninvolved displays we'd been watching as drifted from ressies to firsts and back. So it stuck out and was seen by some as evidence of an attitude change.

I remember him having a great first half against Carlton last year which kept us in the game as Carlton threatened to run away with it.All our midfielders were getting killed except for him.The win was in no small part due to his efforts.

Not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere, but how did Crouch get named in the best players while Ablett was overlooked??

The dubious nature of the best list is an ongoing frustration of mine.

Crouch got 6 possessions in 4 quarters of football while most people on RWO agree that Ablett was our best player!!??

I don't bother looking at the best lists for that very reason - they are so subjective and often seem to be based on stats alone.

I would suggest that if reading the best lists frustrates you - stop reading them!

Herald Sun today (11 April) shows the following as best Swans:-
Hall, J. Bolton, Ablett, Nicks, Goodes, Crouch
                                SMH today shows:-
Hall, J. Bolton, Nicks, Goodes, Crouch

The SMH seems to pick anything from 5 to 7 players..............really can't understand how they wouldn't have had NOG in their best.
