From day 1 to his last game, Dempster senior remained a "yard of pumpwater" Had a magnificent leap and a good pair of hands, but was never strong enough to hold down FF or CHF. I guess thats why he only managed 67 games.
PS when I say only, I don't mean it in a derogatory sense.
He was one of those weedy leaping guys the Swans seemed to have a few of - never big enough or strong enough in the old rough and tumble days of the VFL. Good skills but that doesn't always help when some thug is going to grind you into the turf. He had an awful lot of hair too.

Speaking of which, why has Earl Shaw been made the nominated rookie, I would have thought the chance of him getting a game this year (he's a pure ruckman and I rate him VERY highly) would be far slimmer than Luke Vogels who is a potential KPP?

I don't think so IIRC, but he used to be play such a flexible CHB role that he would wander over the ground quite a lot - well ahead of his time and an indication of what was to come (ie: now). He also played maybe a quarter of his time at CHF.
