PAUL ROOS (Sydney) - The Swans were criticised by seemingly everyone in Australia expect the Prime Minister last week not only for their loss to the Kangaroos but for their negative style of play in what was rightly described as one of the worst AFL games in recent memory. And when they adopted similar tactics in the first half on Saturday night against the Lions, it appeared Roos was headed for more criticism.
At that stage the Swans had kicked just two goals to trail the Lions by three goals but Roos deserves the utmost credit for "freeing" his side up after half-time.
And Roos was rewarded for his bravery when the Swans snatched a thrilling victory over the Lions thanks to a goal after the siren from Barry Hall, after having trailed by 32 points at the last change.
