    Why was Ablett forgotten?

Correct me if i'm wrong - but i though Luke Ablett played a great game against the Lions. Yet in the "BEST" list we had "Hall, Nicks, J. Bolton, Goodes, Williams, Maxfield ".
Goodes? Maxfield? I thought Ablett played a much better game. It seemed our younger players (dempster and Spriggs included) were very cool calm and collected in sticky situations. I would have said Ablett was the player who caught my eye the most as having pulled off some excellent turnovers. Did anybody else notice him? It seems the 'important' ppl didn't...He should have been on our 'best' list.

Shows that most journos have no idea and the 'best' list is next to useless.

I rewatched some of the game today and was surprised by Ablett.

After thinking he had actually played really well after my earlier viewing, I was disturbed to notice twice in one quarter (i think it was the 3rd) he was caught unaware of defenders around him. e.g. he took a mark at the top of the F50 arc, and decided to play on straight away, and ran directly into a lions player. Similar thing happened soon after.

he really has to improve his awareness. however, apart from that, i still have to say he did have a very good game.

IMO Ablett and Davis should have been in that list. Nicks, Maxfield and possibly Goodes probably should not have been.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

I thought Goodes deserved to be in the list but I've already had NMW disagree with me on that one and who's to argue (or can be bothered with arguing) with NMW?

76% of people between the ages of 28 1/2 and 37 1/4 cannot be bothered arguing with NMW on a Monday.

Point taken Sharpie, but does Leo Barry not run in all directions at times for no reason and run himself into corners, does Barry Hall not kick dinky kicks that fall short, when he should be having a shot which is what he is paid for.

I reckon Ablett will learn a very big lesson after that HTB decision that went his way.

If keeps not being aware of players around him then I will be the first to back you up.

Did you though see his handpass to Williams for a goal in the last Q. That was on before he received his handpass. Knew exactly where Willo was.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Just reckon maybe his game wasnt quite up to the level most people are saying around here. But hopefully he will continue to improve.

Goodes was okay in patches but thought he dropped too many makeable marks and even the goals he got weren't through super play. The one in the last was one of those over the top ones. Main thing I'd say in his favour though is that having a tall down there improves the structure and someone has to play on him. Ablett made a few mistakes but deserved to be in the top players.

People with IQs of less than 150 know that there is little point in arguing with NMW except between 1am and 3am when at least 1 litre of alcohol has been consumed...

I agree with Snowy. By my count, Goodes dropped up to 8 contested marks - all of which he was the only one with hands on the ball.

Maybe he needs to speak to the 2-million dollar man to see how he improved his contested marking skills so much.

Noggy was our BOG IMO. I watched the 2nd half again last night and he was brilliant given his experience.

My Brownlow votes would have been:

                          Ablett
                          Hall
