    Captain Baz?

    Fox Sport & Tele:

    it ends:

With Hall's future at the Swans secure, the odds of him becoming the next Swans captain after current skipper Stuart Maxfield have shortened dramatically.

Sydney coach Paul Roos acknowledges that Hall already has the respect and admiration of the next generation of players more than any other senior member of the side.

"The younger players gravitate to Hally. He's got an aura about him," Roos said.

"I think the other thing about him is that Hally is a really nice bloke.

"You can't fake that. People are pretty smart and can see through that straight away."

Not that it applies to Hall, but I've seen total arseholes fake it successfully. Roos needs to get into an office more often.

Roos has played with/ against and coached hundreds of blokes,he would see Barry almost every day of the season and alot in the preseason.I reckon he would be qualified to make a judgement on Barry's character.Having said that there are plenty of nice "fakers" but they do get found out.

Hell no - the insurance industry is full of dodgy-car salesmen-types, however claims people (like me) have an ability to see right through these types and put them in their place with the right cutting remark at the right time!

How successful can they be if you know they are faking it?

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

There's a particular type of b@stard that everyone thinks is a really nice bloke until they personally get shafted by them. For some reason it is impossible to convince anyone that the person is an @rsehole until they cop it themselves. If you haven't seen anyone like this, chances are you just haven't been shafted yet.

I reckon this is what any backman at the other clubs would say if they read Roos' comments

[brings thread back on topic] Hall would be an inspired choice. The dude has clearly stated his devotion to Sydney and his enjoyment at being at the club. He is capable of leading by example and placing fear into the minds of the opposition.

Sydney should continue it's tradition of appointing hard bastards as Captains.

Goodes, while genius, is too soft in terms of his on field character. Jude would be great but would be constantly haranged about his pretty face, except in the presence of Cousins who should really be poncing about in Milan or some other Euro trash ****hole instead of disgracing the footy field.
If Jude were appointed, maybe Barry could give his boatrace a good going over prior to the season.

Willo is too old, but may still play on for 10 years.

Maybe Crouch. For no other reason other than i just love the bastard.

                        Hall and Kirk co-captains.

                        Leo and Crouch co-deputy-captains.

Na. The whole 'two captain' thing has a rather Nafftacular-St.Kilda-Rod-Butterss-Grant-John- Thomas-help-my-ego-is-the-size-of-Telstra-Dome-Cruddy ring to it.

Agree JohnnyNova (love that name!) that co-captain thing gets a bit confusing and the roll loses sort its polish if everyone can have a go. Its Ok for the under 10's, but a different story in Seniors.

Anyway, I for one would love to see Baz as the Captain one day.
(I have bored the folk in my office stupid about how wonderful Baz is. They are threatening to remove all of my swans things from my walls if I keep it up.)
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Appointing BBBBHall skipper of the Swans would make me a very happy man. For many of the reasons mentioned above. Would also indicate to other clubs (and players from all teams, and new recruits) the type of character we are looking for at the club. Obviously he is respected for his skills, his intimidatory aspects, his work ethic and being a mentor to the junior blokes within the club itself, however I think to the greater footballing world having Baz up front would be terrific.

                              Go you good thing.
